Children North Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) - La Ronge, Saskatchewan

Three of my grandchildren have gone through the Children North ECIP program. Thanks to them one not only caught up to his developmental milestones, he surpassed them for his age level. The second grandchild is now meeting his age appropriate developmental milestones, and the third grandchild was diagnosed with autism (in much quicker time frame then other people I know who were not in the program) which now allows him access to various programs. Because of being diagnosed early, he was put into various therapies such as speech and language and occupational therapy prior to starting school allowing him to be much more successful. Children North brings these specialists to our community on a regular basis which greatly reduced the costs of traveling a minimum of 2.5 hours one way to see a specialist as well as allowing more regular visits. Also, Children North assisted in ensuring that he had a educational assistant lined up at the school when he started so that he started school will everything he needed in place. Without these interventions, my grandchildren would not have received the supports they needed to succeed. Since my grandchildren were in the program, Children North has expanded even further. They now have a pediatric therapy room, and they bring in speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pediatrician, child psychologist, child psychiatrist, educational psychologist, and physiotherapist on a regular basis. Without this, children would have to travel 4 hours (one way) to see these therapists regularly , which can be very difficult and financial impossible for many families. Children North is an amazing asset to numerous families of Northern Saskatchewan.
