Was in slave lake for a week after camping and had run out of my blood pressure medication. I had all of the information from my prescription which was also a shoppers drug store in Calgary. I asked asked if they would supply me with a few days to tide me over until I would return home to pick up my prescription. The Pharmacist said the only way it could be done is if they would transfer my entire prescription from Calgary to slave lake. My prescription in Calgary was already waiting for me to pick up. I asked if there was any other way and they said there wasn’t. I have had this request at other drug stores in the past without a problem.. I decided to go without which isn’t the best thing for my health but they seriously did not care. I cannot believe. Pharmacy could have so little regard for a persons health . Customer service and care is definitely not a top priority with this drugstore.

Working in camp at red earth creek. I called 8 days in advance to have my prescription transferred, knowing they would need to order enough to fill it. I also requested to have it blister packaged, a requirement depending on the camp you stay in.

I gave the pharmacy another call 4 days before having it filled, to ensure it would be blister packed and ready for pick up.

When it came time to pick up my prescription, the pharmacy hadn't ordered enough stock to fill it. The pharmacy staff didnt even blister pack what was in stock. It would have been trivial to issue an amount owed for later pick-up, alongside releasing however many days worth they had in stock.

The prescription ended up needing to be transferred to Wal-Mart. It took 4 hours to get it filled, having it blister packed would mean waiting another day. That wasn't an option.

I decided on a two-star review as the pharmacy staff were polite, direct, and pleasant on the phone. Unfortunately, they didn't seem interested in doing their job so I can't provide a better review. I suppose in Alberta, pharmacists can delegate work they don't want to other pharmacies.

EDIT: Changed it to a 1 star review because the pharmacist misspelt the name of my doctor and their clinic and the town its in. In addition, they left out the physician's directions to the pharmacist for dispensing, and the physicians directions to the patient. The pharmacy at slave lake shoppers drug mart clearly got their license out of a cracker jack box.

Transferring prescriptions between provinces isn't hard, but if you choose to do so with the Slave Lake Shoppers Drug Mart, you'll be stupified by the circus sideshow they operate.

I've been shopping here for years but today one of their staff followed me everywhere I went. I will no longer shop here. I was no doubt profiled because I'm visibly First Nations.

This used to be a really well run pharmacy. But not anymore my husband dropped off a prescription to be filled on Tuesday January 11th and was told it would take an hour. He was not able to return for it till Thursday 13th Jan and was told it was not ready . He was not able to wait and said he would return again on Friday evening but he was assured it would be ready Friday morning. When he returned Friday evening again it was not ready. This is unacceptable it should have been ready for pick up by now. They have had three days to fill this prescription we will no longer be using this pharmacy as they do not care about customer service anymore. my husband was told again its was not ready and he has to come back again on Saturday 15th January after lunch when it may be ready. In the mean time his health is suffering as his prescription has been changed and he was supposed to be on the new medication by now. I am disgusted at their lack of concern for their customers.

Wheel chair access a little awkward. The person using the wheel chair has to enter parking lot - drivers lane - in order to drive up the curb. Hence the drop of one star.

I was told by the make up staff that if I did not like a makeup product I could ruturn within 14 days, even if opened.
Purchased primer on the Friday, went to return the product on the following Sunday
because it was aweful, and they refused to take it back because it was opened and they could not resell it.
Advised them that it was their staff that told me I could return a product if I was not happy, and they still refused.
Will not purchase here again.
