I had a very disappointing experience with Langs Medical Centre today. I called in advance to inform them that my pharmacy was faxing my prescription and asked if they could refill it. The receptionist I spoke with told me they have a 72-hour policy for refills. I explained that I didn’t realize I was out and that I was heading to Costco Pharmacy that day, so I asked if someone could help me. She seemed understanding and took my name to check what could be done.

However, when she returned to the phone, her entire attitude had changed. She rudely dismissed me, saying they didn’t have my prescription and that they had many other patients waiting. She then went on about policies in an extremely unprofessional and dismissive manner.

This is not the first time I’ve had issues with the receptionists at this clinic. Last year, they misplaced my prescription, and I had to call a week later to get it refilled—so much for the 72-hour rule! The front desk staff are consistently rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. It’s frustrating because the medical staff themselves are great, but the receptionists make dealing with this clinic a nightmare.

It’s clear that management supports the receptionists, as I had to change my Google account just to leave this review after a previous one was removed. If this issue is not addressed, I will seriously consider moving my family of five elsewhere. A medical clinic should be a place where patients feel supported, not disrespected.

My blood pressure is right now so high after speaking to this rude woman and I will take this further

Here’s a review you can use or adapt:

I have been going to Langs Community for over 5 years since moving to Cambridge from Brampton. While I appreciate the services they provide, I have consistently had issues with the reception staff at the medical clinic. Both my oldest daughter and I have experienced rude and unempathetic behavior from them.

A few months ago, one receptionist was particularly rude to my daughter. Today, I had another frustrating experience when I called to follow up on a prescription refill that was faxed to them by my pharmacy almost a month ago. My pharmacy had to refax it because it hadn’t been processed.

When I mentioned to the receptionist that I feel very dizzy without this medication if I go more than three days without it, she didn’t apologize or express any concern. Instead, she flatly told me it was sent today, without addressing why it hadn’t been handled earlier. When I asked again why it wasn’t faxed sooner, her only response was, “I don’t know, ma’am.”

This lack of empathy and accountability is incredibly disappointing. I’ve left a message for the manager, as I have in the past, but unfortunately, nothing seems to change. I plan to speak with the doctor and nurse practitioner about this, and I’m seriously considering switching clinics.

We are patients, not inconveniences. Medical facilities should prioritize respect, kindness, and professionalism, and I hope Langs can address this issue.

I have been a patient of langs as long as I can remember (20 plus years) and these past couple years have been terrible. Reception is always snappy and rude. I never feel like anything less than an inconvenience to the staff. More than once I've booked an appointment only to be called rhw day before and have it rescheduled for several days later being told they tried to "squeeze" me in but that the appointment they gave me wasn't actually available. Everyone's miserable. Noone knows how to talk to patients with any type of dignity. Thankfully you can book online and check in at the kiosk so your contact with staff is limited.

This is my first google review and for good reason. The importance of having seamless ability to access medical care is of upmost importance for people struggling with health issues, and Langs NDCC is NOT the place you want to seek care from if this is what matters to you - and it is not the doctors' fault.

Dr. Wang at Langs NDCC, and Dr Arnott before her have been nothing but amazing.. it is all the front end staff that make this process mind-numbingly frustrating.

I have been dealing with a range of medical issues over the last year with varying degrees of severity. To get an appointment on a timely basis is practically impossible so I am better served going to a walk-in or emergency visit regardless of severity because waiting 1-1.5 months on average to just get a 5 minute sit down with the doctor isn't realistic.

More importantly, to even get through to any of the front office staff is a herculean task. Today alone I have called Langs 4x in half hour increments trying to book an appointment, only to get a voicemail saying they don't do callbacks for appointment bookings and to try booking online (which can't be done for my appointment type) or to try again later. Better yet, when I have booked appointments (soonest being ~1.5 months out) and called in to see if anything sooner exists, they don't manage a cancellation list to try to optimize appointment uptake, and the online scheduling system created me an appointment that the receptionist told me doesn't even exist..

When I have managed to get through to the front-end, I have been told multiple times things along the lines of "if it is so important why are you not going to ER?", when ER is telling me my issues need longer term care provided by a family doctor and referrals to specialists, which I can't get without seeing my family doctor.

When I've sought care from Langs in Cambridge, my experience has been no better, with one doctor repeatedly calling me 10/15 minutes late (or not at all), only to catch my voicemail and tell me to rebook my appointment (as you can't call back a No Caller ID line), meaning another 1-2 week delay in getting a refill restricted prescription filled with serious side effects from cold-cutting usage.

Langs NDCC used to be the best, I moved to this office from a doctor who seemed to not care about me or my family's health, and since the change in front-end staff at Langs it has done nothing but continually degrade in experience & atmosphere. The new receptionists seem to not really care anymore about providing a high-quality experience or even so much as kindness in their interactions with people. I understand healthcare is a stressful/thankless environment to work in, but the atmosphere there is not reflective of my community or it's needs, and I hope more people will consider alternate healthcare providers to create some sense of pressure for a change to be made.

Thank you Drs Wang and Arnott for the work you do. You bring a high quality of care & attention to the work you do & to the North Dumfries community. Unfortunately I will have to change providers and try to find a doctor that can match this care that has an organizational structure supporting them that actually functions. I really hope that Langs NDCC adjusts course soon for the sake of the retirees in the community with greater healthcare needs & less flexibility in mobility/transit to seek alternative healthcare providers.

Went in to ask if they were accepting new patients and receptionist gave me applications to fill out. Once submitted, there is a 6 to 7 month wait. Not so much as a smile from this receptionist. Looks like she doesn't enjoy interacting with the public. These places should worry more about how they interact with the public. Since it is so hard to find a family doctor, I guess they feel like customer service is not required. So they can be rude.

I have been in and out of doctors offices my whole life. This place is top notch and the doctor I seen was awesome. I am only writing this review because it had a poor score. If you are required to go here please know you will be in good hands all the way through.
