My sister was admitted last week through ER. The ER staff were professional, thoughtful and caring. I have nothing but great things to say about the information, empathy and medical care she received. I know it is difficult when one is sick to have to wait. Be patient, so many people are asking too much of our system that simply doesn't have the number of staff to see everyone immediately. If you are ill, you will be seen.

Family member came in with breathing trouble and was there for 9 hours total, after 3 hours they got an xray and checkup, after 7 hours she was moved into a room and left for two hours with not one person checking in on them. what would've happened if they passed out? Upon leaving the building (they gave up) the emergency room was pretty much empty, why is the lone hospital of a city with 10k people this understaffed? Usually I'll give them the benefit since it's boxing day, but other reviews tell similar stories during non holiday hours.

Just go somewhere else, another emergency room is 40 minutes away.

Google reviews shouldn't be used to critique medical care, but where else should people voice problems?

It's an absolutely uncaring, horribly run, awful place
with no care or consideration for anyone. I sat there for
over ten hours yesterday after my chest x-ray, to no
avail. No doctor. I had to leave because I am diabetic,
have meds that I need to take, etc. Now they refuse to
give me any information without coming in and sitting for
another infinite number of hours. Not like anyone has
a life, or a job or anything. But they've got to get that insurance
money I suppose. I haven't had a family doctor in years
and this is most certainly not an option. So now I guess
they are just withholding my results because they don't
like the fact that I wouldn't wait another ten hours?
Call and you get snarky remarks and no information.
They wouldn't even tell me what the doctor's name was on
shift last night. My advice? Anything but this place.

I got to the emergency department for what seems like a broken foot, got in to triage and never had my vitals checked or asked why I was here, the triage nurse assumed it was a sore foot because I limped in, I asked at the window why my vitals weren’t checked and she argued with me that they were taken, so I asked what my vitals weee and she couldn’t tell me because they weren’t on my chart, so I told them to check their camera to see what went wrong and they just looked at me like I was wrong, I came in at 11:59 am, it is now 5:31 pm and everyone that came in after me is gone ?‍♂️ worst emergency department I ever been to! So I will be calling the hospital administrator when I get back home

It's not like this is the only hospital has bad wait times, it's pretty much an issue everywhere in Canada. But here is a tip, if you drive to the hospital in Tatamagouche you will get in much faster than New Glasgow or Truro. Worth the drive.
