Avis de Tay River Health Centre

Today, we had occasion to book our appointments on line & were rather disconcerted to see so many negative complaints against the clinic. We want to add a most positive review. We consider ourselves more than fortunate to be accepted at this clinic. We have found it to be exceptionally efficient, personable and effective. In some countries the only way to make appointments is online. Here the clinic offers options. We say that if the majority used the simple effective, online option possibly the wait times at reception might be less. (We have never experienced much wait time if we ever called).Take note of the less busy times if your call is not urgent. We feel we receive more than excellent care from our doctor, who is so very personable, caring and wise in our view. We are deeply grateful to be with Tay River Health Centre.
Many of these negatives ought to be referred to our Ontario Ministry of Health where lesser minds manage purse strings that need to be loosened. What good is a $200 rebate if our critical OHIP is being allowed to disentigrate. We feel it is so refreshing & fortunate to have such a professional clinic in our area.

This is by far the worst clinic I have been to in my entire life. Doctor mis diagnosed my stroke for Lyme disease and said my swollen ankle was fine turns out hospital told me it was a bad sprain. Front desk never answers phones and says they charge for prescription faxes to pharmacy. If they had zero they would get a zero star. Taking my medical to another clinic and doctor. Shame on this disgraceful clinic staff. Sad sad sad Angela Micucci I do not recommend this clinic to anyone they should close their doors !

As of minutes ago I have "de-rostered" from the Tay River Health Centre as I am beyond dissatisfied with this organization. I was actually shocked that I was able to talk to their front desk as they go out of their way to limit direct communication as much as possible...which should be a red flag for everyone.
I will not "out" the Dr I was assigned to. He's a reasonably nice person but I cannot shake the feeling that he should be building his skills as part of a hospital community, given he's certainly not ready for a clinic or practice of his own. I have had two appointments with him and those ended up as a surprising misdiagnosis and then his impression that it was the right call to put me on medication, for life, to treat high cholesterol, when I have already stated that there's a high probability that I have genetically high cholesterol.
I was told at one point there was no test for genetically high cholesterol, then I educated them on what that test actually was, and then I was told by his nurse that my Dr would choose the path of medication anyways. He confirmed this decision in person, while confirming there were no other indicators that I was suffering from high cholesterol. He also acknowledged that there were no other direct reasons for my having high cholesterol...given my healthy diet was not an indicator, and I have a routine fitness program.
I would likely have remained his patient if he'd have respected my obvious wishes to be tested for genetically high cholesterol as a matter of confirmation and education, but he gave me absolutely no indication he would spend a single effort referring me for that test.
For those counting, that's a strike 3 scenario. In this time, where it is brutally hard to find a family doctor, a post-blast veteran can hardly afford to go without. That reason, and the other reviews that are legitimate (the positive reviews for this clinic are highly questionable), should give everyone pause before requesting attention from this clinic.

I have had nothing but problems here and doctor looked at bloodwork months after it was done and I suffered for months with low thyroid! Liver and bladder issue and can not seem to get an ultrasound also sent me to Perth instead of Smiths Falls for appt so now I am having issues getting to see specialist! Bedside manner sucks and do not want to hear about anxiety and insomnia also had psychiatrist recommended sleep aid and still no cigar! I am now cut off from there because day of appointment I fell down and hurt my back badly! I do not know how these ppl become doctors but desperate for healthcare I guess!

Waited 4 1/2 months to get an appointment with Dr. Ferrier, 5 appointments he showed up for 2. Cost me 4 days on line bookings with no availability but had to cancel my home base appointments at a loss of 3500.00 , Had his fill in doctor do a major tumor removal that he admitted she should not have done with NO paperwork to approve this . And wanted a fee for e to transfer to another doctor after a year waiting

I have always had a great experience with this clinic and all the staff. Dr. Sillick is my family physician and she is always very thorough and kind. Reception is wonderful and I have only ever had pleasant encounters with them! I highly recommend this clinic and their doctors!

I have no issues with the Dr. IF you can see him. Worst run dr office I've ever encountered. Never answer the phone. The whole office shuts down at lunch when people who work can call. And no answer machine. My husband is very sick. I called and told them. He also has heart condition. Sorry can't give you an appointment. I wonder if the dr even knows these things.
Disgraceful.

Only been here a couple of times, but so far they have been super accommodating (especially when it was urgent). Nice and pleasant staff. Clean offices. I am just thankful they took me as a patient after waiting 3 years looking elsewhere. Much appreciative!
