Went there for my gums (was thinking gingivitis, due to my GUMS swelling up.) and the doctors just kept asking me about my throat, and seeing how my throat was doing. Just burst into tears trying to explain, “no, not my throat, my gums. My throat doesn’t hurt” and they just kept asking me “so your throat is okay?” Yes. Can we please worry about my gums now Ended up waiting in there for 6 hours, for them to give me COUGH MEDICINE!!!! And send me home. Didn’t even look at my gums once. Spent 6 hours there and was face to face with the doctor for maybe 5 minutes. Super hot inside, smelt like genuine faeces, and the receptionist refused to talk to anyone. She kept talking to the other receptionist behind her about an office party Ignored me and my mom for a good 5 minutes while sitting directly in front of her. The staff act like they are all entitled because they’re “doctors” and the government works for them. Ridiculous service. I get that it’s a hospital, but it doesn’t take a genius to have some common courtesy for people who are suffering.

Some nurses were great and easy to approach but other were miserable and not even tried to help! Doctors and specialist were great and very helpful with the information. The bathrooms and lounge was sooooo dirty to be a hospital ! Housekeeping is needed at night time for sure ! The place looks too dirty to be hospital

They figured out what my issue was but they sent me home when I wasn’t feeling well so I had to go to a different hospital to get the right treatments

Thank you for an efficient and helpful experience! At 2:30 in the afternoon on April 7, 2024, the 16 foot ladder I was on gave way sending me to the ground. My wife was able to drive me to the Portage Hospital Emergency Room for treatment. With only one other person in the waiting room, I was in triage within 15 minutes of arrival after reception. Triage was about 5 minutes and I went straight into a treatment room. Within 10 minutes of that, I was seen by a nurse and doctor, both of whom were curtious and efficient. I was administered a pain killer, sent for x-rays, diagnosed, and released within 2 1/2 hours of arrival.

The staff were efficient and courteous ensuring that I had what I needed. I was also courteous and informative to help them with their work.

My family and I are fortunate that we rarely need to visit the hospital, but every time we have had the need, the Portage Hospital has delivered excellent and efficent service.

Aside from the Ward medical staff, cleaning and dietary working their butts off to keep people healthy. The rest of the staff there are living in another world. The ward administration and the general administration are like the old saying " right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing". I hope that the new hospital comes with new administration and management personnel capable and willing to accept change along with Truth and Reconciliation. For the good of all people who are seeking care.
Again thanks to the front line hard working staff dealing with these people daily while trying to provide care to our loved ones.

I had a lipoma surgery on my back today , my first surgery ever and i could not believe the professionalism, care and compassion i experienced from everyone at the hospital , amazing staff and surgeon thank you very much DR.Ross👍👍
