Today I went to the clinic for the first time, I was so nervous I kept putting it off. I couldn’t be happier with my visit, I felt so safe and comfortable, I met with a counselor named Jon. He made me comfortable I told him everything, without any embarrassment, and as an anxious person that says a lot! They gave me all sorts of info, I felt cared for and positive, thank you!

Tried to help someone get ID through their weekly ID program and huge disappointment. You pretty much need ID to be able to get one through them in which case of course you wouldn’t need one. But went through their process, told what we had may satisfy them and get an ID and would be called back to let us know later that day. No call so called back every day several times a day left several messages for a week and still no call back. People in need of this program can’t do anything until they have ID-no doctors no banking no nothing. A call back to at least say we can’t help is not a lot to ask.

Please note that there is minor paraphrasing and I remain vague to avoid breaking privacy rules:

Saw a psychiatrist here who helped minimally.

The Helpful:
- Diagnosed me with BPD

The Not-helpful:
- Talked me out of starting OCD medication.
- Said I could see them again if needed, which was an (unintentional?) lie confirmed by their secretary who said "They say things all the time not knowing how they work." I needed them to apply for disability, but they gave me the impression it'd be okay to hold off on it while I see a therapist.
- Was in disbelief about me having tics because they never occurred in their office, and dismissed it as /probably just ocd/. I dont know why I get them mostly at home, but they have since worsened and I now have complex motor + vocal tics. I now get them occasionally during work.
- Referred me to two therapists who clearly don't have experience with my problems. "I dont think you're autistic because you have good eye contact." Which I usually don't. "I'm not your vent person" Okay. "I wanted to call and make sure you're willing to do the work because your other therapist said you weren't making progress." Which I was, but without them. All they'd do is try to challenge my rumination/thoughts instead of actually understand my situation. Telling someone with overlapping BPD + OCD that if their relationship falls apart that's their fault ... doesnt help, crazy. We're still together, have been for a couple year now, working together on things actively. But nobody listens. They're like robots that only listen for keywords of symptoms and vomit whatever opinionated response they have at you.

My experience has often made me feel hopeless. I'm in a better place now than I ever was a year or so ago when I saw these people, but I still need help with medication (which I was cut off from once my psychiatrist ghosted me). I am far too afraid of being judged and dismissed to go in to these buildings anymore (aberdeen + the addictions/mental health clinic). I hate that I have to type this review, I don't want others to be turned away from getting help, but these places made me want to end it all. I feel hopeless in this place. My only hope left is using the benefits I now get from my common law partner and finding a therapist + psychiatrist that is trained in more than just depression and non-complex disorders.

Shout out to the person (social worker? wasnt sure his position) there who had time to help me when I was near homelessness though. They were nice. Made me feel less scared, and gave me a little emergency resourced pamphlet I still keep on me.

This place is a joke I was told by one of the drs he would send a referral to see my therapist again and instead of sending it he just decided I didn’t need to see anyone and didn’t send anything, and didn’t notify me. I’ve been waiting for months for a call I was never gonna get this place is a joke you never take mental health as serious as you say you do

They now employ a psychiatrist. That is the only thing they have going for them. Aside from that I would say they are a mostly empty service.
