Well if you don't want to be seen by a doctor. Gladly come here. Waited for 11 hours and haven't seen anyone. Even though I'm unable to walk ... I've talked to 3 other patients that been here for more then 14 hours and haven't seen a doctor. Beyond unacceptable. When I asked nurse for an update. They said I wouldn't see a Doctor that day, and to wait in the waiting room until one shows up. This means I would of had to wait over 24 hours in an emergency room to see a physician. No accomdations, just forcing us to wait in the waiting room overnight without any meals.. unacceptable treatment at this facility.

two years of frustrations and extreme pain ignored by doctors in fort mcmurray multiple hospital visits and the nurse practitioner Stacy MacDonald and the xray team more acurately pinpointed my issues then a whole hospital and my family doctor did in four hours. i was listened to, thoroughly examined and was given some of the best medical attention i have seen to date, even on what seemed a busy sunday. a big thank you for setting me on the right path and hopefully a healthier future! thank you all so much.

I couldn’t have asked for better care for my elderly mother. All the staff from the CA’s, lab technician, nurses and the attending physician in the Emergency room were excellent. Yes they are busy and there is waiting but that is not the fault of the staff who I felt were doing their very best while being understaffed and over worked. Thanks to the staff at the Aberdeen for being awesome!

I went in at about 7:30pm on Friday June 7th and at 9:04pm I was sitting at shoppers drug mart waiting for a prescription, I'm sorry, but it just doesn't get any better that that! Thanks to the people that helped me so efficiently, wonderful job.

I've put off posting about this hospital as it is by far one of the hardest to pin down as to why it is so god awful.

The staff for the most part is reasonable if nothing else, but that's where I'd say the positives end. Yet again I spent over five hours waiting to only have one out of four people ahead of me tended to. In that time five additional patients came in, all were triaged promptly, however as I said. Only one patient out of the nine total were serviced. At that rate morning and noon shift would still be attending people from the night prior.
Canadian Healthcare is a joke. But The Aberdeen takes that premise and dials it to eleven.
I would honestly rather die in my house then seek medical help from ANY Nova Scotian Hospital.

I brought my son who has Leukemia there three times in a week due to severe leg pains, he was in remission at the time . We saw two different doctors all of which just sent us home without doing anything and said they didn’t think it was anything to worry about. So we call our family doctor who initially said six weeks to get an appointment which is why we went to Aberdeen in the first place and told him we need to be seen right away. Thank god our family doctor did checked his blood work same day and cancer was back. Now I’m no doctor but if a patient comes in with pain who has blood cancer I would think checking his blood work would be obvious. We have spent the last four months in the hospital two weeks of which we’re at the Aberdeen and the rest in Halifax. The difference between the two is night and day. In Halifax they treat you like they care. The majority of the nurses at the Aberdeen are rude and lack all compassion. Bad attitudes are everywhere at the New Glasgow hospital. They play the overworked card but I have spent enough time in both hospitals to say the Halifax nurses are far busier than the Aberdeen but yet far more compassionate. The problem I feel is there is no management at Aberdeen it’s just a free for all no accountability. My wife works in healthcare so I have lots of terrible stories but the fact of the matter it’s almost impossible to fire a nurse because of shortages who would replace them so at the Aberdeen I feel they take advantage of this fact. Shameful but true. Save yourself the aggravation and risk just drive to Halifax after all 12hrs in the ER at new Glasgow or an hour and a half in the car to Halifax.
