We have been crossing at this border for about 6 years, and officer McDonald is by far the rudest and most unprofessional border security officer we have ever encountered. He has repeatedly given my family a hard time for no apparent reason. Tonight while we were crossing the border he berated and lectured my family due to us misunderstanding a simple question (it has never been an isssue before). My grandmother is currently on a tourist visa but is living with us in the time being. When officer McDonald asked us where we reside we naturally responded that we live in Canada. He then very angrily said “that’s NOT the answer to my question”… because she lives in India as well. We tried to explain calmly that we consider her to be living with us at the moment and he proceeded to get more upset and condescendingly asked “how didn’t you understand my question I was perfectly clear?” And when we tried to explain that we considered her to live in Canada at the moment he cut us off and asked us if we understood the difference then made us repeat it back like we were toddlers. He is a disgrace to the Canadian border security and I strongly believe that his behaviour may be stemmed in racism as this has been an ongoing pattern of behaviour on his part.

We live in Osoyoos and cross this border regularly. We never had any issues till the day. But today was different. Officer Macdonald ruined our evening. Specially my mother in law who is visiting from India got so scared that she said that she will not come this way again. This officer is very very rude and the tone of his voice is very bad. Upon that his expressions were like he will eat other people. If CBSA is reading these comments please do something. These are not only our thoughts about this particular officer but there are so many other people commenting about him. Please do something.

Solid. They are doing their job. I crossed in 2021 right when the border re-opened. The usual hassle in my "case".
But I was prepared for everything including doing a dry run a few weeks prior. All the COVID stuff sorted and my ARRIVE CAN paperwork ready. The agent still tried to make it difficult but I anticipated any questioning.
Just answer the questions asked directly without adding anything and you will get through. Please don't have anything "extra" in your car especially the boot because they can search anything and have absolute authority to deny entry to Canada.

On the day that we passed through the Osoyoos border, there was no long vehicle queue. We are already at the crossing within just a few minutes and the border agent was very nice to us. An over-all great crossing experience. Keep up the good work guys!

On Friday, March 20, 2020, at approximately 12:15 p.m., my husband and I were returning from the south to Canada, as directed by Canadian officials. I would like to comment on our experience and congratulate the four individuals, Canadian and American border officials, pre-screener agents and the border booth agent. The experience was not what we expected for the present situation. There was no line-up, at that time, all four individuals were calm, friendly, very thorough, asked us quite a few questions regarding our travels and health, and what surprised me most was the time they spent with us, and, most importantly, the in-depth information that they gave us regarding what we needed to do, know and cautions we were to take at home during this time. We congratulate management and ask that you acknowledge and congratulate these outstanding individuals for a job well done. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the border agent we dealt with this evening (dark beard, slightly longer hair) is giving other agents who do a difficult job very well a HUGE disservice. He was one of the most arrogant, condescending, unprofessional and unreasonable individuals I have ever dealt with…and I have travelled extensively and dealt with border agents all over the world. This guy is definitely on a huge power trip and should not be dealing with the public in any capacity. Period.

Dealt with ine if the rudest and most unprofessional people I have ever met in my life. Border agent with a beard and somewhat longer hair should be fired immediately!! Clearly a on a massive power trip knowing no one could do anything about it. People like him should never work anywhere near the public. Complete POS
