I have been a patient of Doctor Saunders since I moved to Edmonton when her office was on jasper ave. She never rushes me is kind and supportive and really cares. Front line staff are very nice , Candace is always helpful and very kind. My only little quip would be that sometimes it takes a while to get in for appointments however they accommodate me with phone appointments, I truly appreciate this clinic and all staff 😊

Outstanding service and support from Drs and clerical staff. During appointments Doctors are not rushing you out the door, they listen to you and help you understand what is going on with your body. The clerical staff is the most friendliest people

After being diagnosed with a brain tumor in my 20's, Dr. Black was able to manage my chronic pain for 26 years. She retired and a new doctor was brought in from over seas.
I was immediately treated as a drug addict, and dropped from the clinic. Had to stop all pain meds, (including Methadone for PAIN , not addictiom) cold turkey with severe withdrawals that landed me in hospital.Because of this, I have applied for MAID (assisted suicide). I will leave a daughter, husband, and two grandchildren.
The emails I sent show a desperate woman in pain and detoxing in the worst pain of my life.
I cannot live like this anymore.Dr, You judged me in 5 minutes, dismissed my symptoms, without even knowing my story.
Candace, thank you for your kindness and all the help You've provided us for 20 years 💕. It's not an easy job, and you are wonderful at it. I will miss you . 🌹
My hope is that this is a lesson of compassion and the fallout of not providing a reasonable continuation of care.

I was disappointed to see that my family doctor has decided to close her practice at this clinic effective April 30th with zero notice. There has already been some difficulties getting appointments in the last year due to the leave of absence and coverage of other physicians, when receiving the email that it was effective on the same date that the email was sent I could not help but feel sorry for patients who have more complex medical needs and I believe there should’ve been a week’s notice for anybody needing any more urgent prescriptions or other medical care before leaving us patients high and dry. It is already difficult as it is to find a family doctor these days and this leaves more Albertans without a family doctor now. I will say I enjoyed my time for the most part as a patient of my doctor, she was kind and caring. I have had mixed experiences with the reception from pleasant to rude. Other doctors I have seen at this clinic have been wonderful.

No compassion, no care, no understanding! AVOID.
As one other person said: RUTHLESS.

I have had issues with this place before and never posted a review but this takes the cake as the office manager has no care or compassion for patients. One of their doctors just closed her practice (April 30) and I cannot find a new doctor for SEVERAL months (called many places). I need a refill but my medication is controlled and no walk-in clinic, NOTHING will help me. The front desk was very informative but unfortunately the office manager is the one that lacks any kindness or understanding to patients or previous patients.

This clinic is literally ruining lives by completely washing their hands and disassociating from all and any turmoil that the dr closure has caused. Some people need to take controlled medications to actually be able to live fulfilling lives but the management at this clinic is deliberately ignorant and leaving many people out cold by letting their medications run out/refusing to refill for at least 90 days.

Please get kinder and more compassionate staff. The world doesn't need people who turn their heads away from people in need.

Doctor Detorakis is an amazing doctor. She listens and works with you to find a solution. I’m grateful for the clinic and all who work there.

Dr. Stewart diagnosed my Grandma's breast cancer over 40 years ago. They have both passed since, BUT he saved her life and she LIVED for 40 years after his diagnosis. I have attended this clinic since I was a child, however, I can't anymore because the current doctor I was seeing moved away, multiple others are on leave and they can't fit me in. My daughter burned her hand 14 years ago and they dropped everything to help her. My husband had the same experience. I walked in today with an issue and asked to see a doctor, and although the lady couldn't help me, she was very kind and gave me a number to where I might be able to find another doctor. I think she was helpful to me because I was kind to her. I understand it's frustrating, but the people at the front don't have control, so if anything, be KIND.

EDIT (Feb 24, 2021):
I received a call the following morning after posting this review. The woman who spoke to me the day earlier wanted to apologize. I told her that I appreciate the call. We all make mistakes - she has a job in which she talks to many people on a daily basis - I think the takeaway here is to remember we all have struggles; it means that we should remember to always speak to people with kindness in mind. We're all here for a limited time and should try our best to treat each other how we would want to be treated.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Ruthless & rude

This review is for the clinic itself, not my doctor - who I followed to this clinic and is absolutely fantastic.

If you book a phone appointment, make absolutely sure your phone is working and reliable. If not - and you miss the phone call - they will call with a rude tone saying they do not want to waste the doctors time & your next appointment will have to be in person (basically saying you will not be allowed to have another phone appointment). Their website states they are "compassionate", however, there is no forgiveness for being a human being and making a mistake, in their eyes.

I should also mention that I have had several appointments - both in person and over the phone - and this is the only one I have ever missed.
