Hello so I gave birth to my son on October 16 2024. Not only 2weeks later had to come to the hospital while I was not prepared to stay at the hospital for 5 days but they accused me of being on hard drugs which I have never done or have any care to do. because I was quiet and withdrawn as I don't like people much or hospitals. Also found out today that they did not even send over the paperwork to register my son for a birth certificate until I called to ask about it which was 4months after he was born. How do you mess up that much. Do better!

I have now been a patient in ER three times, today takes the cake. I thought they had outdone themselves last year, when I presented with worst heartburn ever and I am an retired Emergency Nurse. Been out of the adult world for a few years and working with children in ER. I have a good understanding the pressures they have been under in ER and thus spreading into the hospital. Despite this the Triage Nurse saved my life when I had a heart attack almost right in front of them, she had brought me in immediately and started my IV sent my ibloodwork and did an a ECG. Had a pretty big heart attack. Wound up in the General for bypass. It stems down to a Nurse doing a great job. They all worked so well together. I still to this day Thank you so much. Today I had a bad fall on my head and went to get seen in ER. They were overwhelmingly busy when I came as I take in everywhere but the waiting room and numerous ambulances arriving, one after another. Excellent Triage Nurse took very good care of me, before I knew it I was getting my head CT, Chest xray, bloodwork done and ECG. The doctor only needed to review, poor doctors had no ability to do such a simple task as they were caring for patients sicker than me both in the waiting room and ambulances and still more arrivals. The staff remained calm and kind and caring as they possibly could, with a smile while they were doing it. As the day progressed I was quite impressed with again I thought it was busy when I arrived, it got crazier and still a smile on their faces and care that was needed they took care of it. I was there a total of nine hours so I watched for 7. A lot of activity and they just kept plugging along and helping each other and did good for so many people. I had a good opportunity to watch one of the busiest ER for a "smaller" city, not so much anymore. Nice new entrance and work gonna be done. They need a bigger ER. Servicing way more people than this city expansion has had that sized ER accommodating. I hope their ER is nice and new and wonderful and a little easier to work in. Then their smiles will match their surroundings. You guys were incredible today and as you can see I can't say enough. Thank you for the incredible care and even though I had to wait quite awhile to be assessed and discharged. All the good care and kindness did not go unnoticed today. You guys are heroes. And I'm a pretty good judge. Thank you all so very much 💐🌹💐🌹🏵

If I could give zero stars, I would. The emergency room at Brantford General Hospital is an incredibly frustrating and disheartening experience. The wait times are beyond unacceptable, with patients—including those in severe pain—left for hours, sometimes an entire night, without updates or proper care.
The staff themselves are doing their best, but they are clearly overwhelmed and stretched too thin. Unfortunately, this results in patients, including infants and young children, being neglected for far too long. Seeing babies crying in distress for hours with no help is heartbreaking and inexcusable. No parent should have to beg for medical attention while watching their child suffer.
Communication is severely lacking, leaving patients and families feeling ignored and helpless. The hospital is overcrowded and poorly managed, making an already stressful situation even worse.
If you have any other option for emergency care, take it. Brantford General Hospital’s ER is simply not equipped to provide the timely and compassionate care that patient especially the most vulnerable.

I came in with chest pains, I've had quintuple heart bypass and I waited and waited. They took other people ahead of me even though i was having chest pains and shortness of breath. This hospital is absolutely the worst! I guess I have to have another heart attack or cut off a limb to be seen? 2 shift changes and still nothing. I'm sitting here having trouble breathing, and still nothing! I dont care if you are understaffed, there is no reason for a heart patient to be waiting for hours on end in pain! Nice work Brantford Hospital

I had an absolutely horrible experience at Brantford General Hospital. I came in with severe pain, only to have my condition completely ignored by staff. One particular nurse, more concerned with her own personal feelings than patient care, refused to take my symptoms seriously. When I was physically unable to get up due to the pain, she called security to forcibly remove me from a hospital bed, leaving me to suffer on the floor instead of providing proper medical care.
To make matters worse, hospital security acted like a gang instead of professionals. When I attempted to take a photo to document this mistreatment, a security guard illegally forced me to delete the photos from my phone, violating my rights. Then, as I was leaving, a guard falsely told me I was banned from returning to the hospital for medical treatment—which is completely illegal in Canada.
Wanting to confirm if this was true, I called the hospital’s switchboard, and they told me that I was NOT banned from receiving healthcare. But then, without warning, they transferred me to security instead. When I explained my case to a man on the line, he pretended to be someone else, and shortly after, the entire group of security guards came outside to harass and intimidate me. They followed me off hospital property and all the way down the street, attempting to threaten and scare me even though I had already left.
This hospital is not a place of care, but a place of patient abuse and intimidation. Staff ignore serious health concerns, security acts unlawfully, and they treat vulnerable patients like a nuisance instead of human beings. If you value your dignity, your health, and your rights, avoid this hospital at all costs. BGH needs serious reform—patients deserve better.

Seriously!!! Waiting 7 hours and more? Emergency should function like clockwork, not like a broken clock. Not enough staff...hire more. Where are all the tax payers money going to? Inefficiency? Inadequacy? Maybe you should hand out numbers to ask patients to come back at a certain time instead of waiting in the waiting room. What stupidity is this system? Might as well bring your own bed. What are the hospital management doing? Any of you guys have a brain to think up of a new system or just don't give a damn and just take your paycheck.
All my ranting and raving and I'm not even the one needing medical assistance...its my friend.

The ER is terrible, very unprofessional and uncaring. Went in with a heart problem was left in the waiting room for hours. My vitals were never rechecked. After several hrs waiting I went to the triage nurse and asked him about my results of the ECG and blood work. I was told both were normal. I was livid with the lack of concerns of my symptoms, I left. Next day I received a call at home about my blood work and ECG both were abnormal. This hospital has a bad rating and they wonder WHY? Both upper management and the Government should investigate deeper as to why that is and why it remains so bad. Nurses, doctors should really listen to the patients concerns . I have since come to learn that I do have a heart problem and it’s sad to know that my local hospital a place where I volunteered at ….failed me! The rating should be a 0.

This is second time outrageous time in the waiting room. The first was a couple of years ago I went with chest pain told to go by telehealth they did an ecg and blood then left me over two hours in the waiting room with nothing. I left only to be called to return because I was having a heart attack I was hospitalized for over a week. Now why would you leave someone in a waiting room that was clearly having a heart attack a lovely nurse checked one me and I said I don’t know how much longer I can stay here i am extremely uncomfortable and in pain.
Now today my daughter (17 years old )went to a walk in he instructed her to go to the er. She has been there for 8 hrs so far they have given her ice and pain meds she has an obvious fracture but still has seen anyone and is being told that X-ray has not sent results but nobody has checked. This is ridiculous if you read bgh website it says the new emergency renovation has given them the ability now to speed things up in the er . It does appear that staff are callous and uncaring which is confusing since they are in this field because they care. Do better Brantford General !
