Called looking for assistance for my daughter struggling with mental health. Really need some help. They have no one there to answer calls or help you. What kind of scam is this. Another tax payers waste of funding. You say your here to help, yet you dont even have someone to answer calls. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

The United Progressive Conservative government mismanages AHS, and then blames the organization for failure to operate properly. Money from the federal government for mental health was all spent on a massive transition process with the incompetent Conservatives calling the shots. This is a government that never surveys the public. They literally say, "We'll do what we want and the voters will get used to it." That's like the massively incompetent police departments in Alberta, which have ZERO accountability.

When an institution claims to advocate for the mental well-being of individuals, and it's supposedly be the top authority when it comes to this issue. Cannot just stop and simply focus on the person. The idea of personal accountability has gotten out of control and you cannot blame people for their circumstances. Control is an illusion. Just look at the whole world going to chaos, because those who should be accountable for their incompetence (such as governments and institutions), are not improving our lives. Instead, they pose as if they are committed to the public. When in reality, negligence is often found within them. Anyone can provide some information, anyone can administer drugs without consent. But what do you do to hold your workers accountable, or other institutions like insurance companies, or workplaces, the bank, the government?
You try, but not hard enough

A great resource for anyone looking for support, or just a break.
Their "Welcome Center" is drop-in (Tue-Thu 1-4pm) and is a great place to start, with some fun social activities you can join in with if you wish, or just have a coffee. The peer support workers have lived experience and do an incredible job of making you feel welcome, understood, and providing support if you want.

CMHA Calgary is absolutely amazing! I work in Mental Health in the city and we try to bring down some of our clients every week to get exposed to the Welcome Wednesday drop in group. Many of them have returned and are now signing up for the Recovery College courses offered. Many also are looking at becoming peer support workers themselves. Being so accessible on the train line is convenient as well. Having so many friendly faces welcome you when you walk in makes CMHA a place I suggest anyone, mental health issue or not, to go and visit and experience for themselves. You will be glad you did!!

I love this place! This is the best place in Calgary! I've taken terrific courses here, the teas and coffees are lovely, the people and team are extraordinarily helpful and I've learned much about myself and interacting with others. Since joining CMHA Calgary 4 years ago, the new Recovery College offers insightful, focused and practical courses and workshops. I have met many people with diverse backgrounds and on interesting journeys. It feels hopeful and uplifting to be a part of such a open and accepting community!
