My Dad spent his last 4 years at Stonehaven and the staff there became like a second family. They all knew his routines, his likes and dislikes and were always there to help. His room backed onto a lovely courtyard, he really liked the food and I can't count the number of times someone (from the kitchen staff to the General Manager) has gone above and beyond for him. Through many health challenges the nursing staff were incredibly supportive, understanding and had helpful helpful advice for me as well.

My father’s home for the past 6 years has been at here at Stonehaven. He lived in the independent living section for many years and then had a smooth transition to the assisted living section when his care needs increased. My father enjoyed his time here and what it had to offer including the food, the entertainment and the fellowship with staff and other residents.

I was more involved with the home and all the staff as my father’s care needs increased and was able to see first hand the vibe of how this Chartwell home is run.

Here are a few of my observations:

The director and management team run their home - following all regulated guidelines and in a comprehensive, meticulous approach - but also with a kind and "our residents' come first” mindset/approach. This was evident through the pandemic and continued for the years after as well.

The entertainment team make a constant effort to have a diverse menu of activities that are fun and often educational for those that attend and they ensure all that do attend are included and involved. The entertainment lineup that is brought into the home is something my dad particularly enjoyed.

The front desk staff are always patient and kind as they answer and deal with the many questions / requests from residents and families alike.

The nursing staff - are extremely thorough and attentive with their caring approach with the residents as they look after medications and care needs.

I observe - In these 6 years - there has been little turnover of staff which I think is evidence that the employees enjoy their occupations here and that this must be a pretty good place to work. I often observed staff collaborating with one another and they are always cheerful and upbeat.

There is no question in my mind that this is a community that genuinely enjoy being with and working with seniors! Highly recommend.

This is from Cathy she is the daughter of one of our beloved residents who recently passed away but she still comes to volunteer here with us and here is what she as to say about stonehaven .

My parents moved into the Stonehaven Apartments in the summer of 2010. They had sold their home and were looking for a place that offered activities and a modern but homelike atmosphere. Stonehaven offered all of that and more. They spent 6 years in the apartments until my mother's passing. After that my father moved into a suite in the Manor, where he was able to receive more care. During the 13 years that my father lived at Stonehaven, he made a number of valuable friendships with other residents and participated in the art club, bookclub and gardening group.
As his health failed, he was well taken care of by the incredible staff here.They became a second family for him and I can't say enough about their upbeat and positive attitude, their kindness, consideration and professionalism.
My father recently passed away at the age of 98. My family and I are comforted to know that his last years were spent at Stonehaven, surrounded by people who knew him so well and who truly cared for him. I can't thank them enough!

We are extremely fortunate that Dad chose Stonehaven when it came time to move from his permanent home. In 2019, Dad moved into a one bedroom apartment on the “independent” side of Stonehaven. He was able to take advantage of the meal plans offered in the dining room located in the main manor. He did his own laundry (on his floor) and his room was lightly cleaned by staff weekly.

In 2023, after suffering a medical emergency, dad moved to the main manor where he could receive additional supportive care. The entire staff of Stonehaven are TOP NOTCH. They go the “extra mile” and it is heartening to know that he is in caring hands. It is without hesitation that we endorse the Stonehaven Residence as a place to live.

This is great retirement home. The meals are excellent with a lot variety available. Many members of the staff have been there since the facility opened - a very good indication of the work environment. Nurses and care workers are empathetic and caring. There are a variety of activities to keep one happy and occupied. 10/10

Stonehaven was our Mum’s home for over 3 years and during that time we were always very satisfied with all aspects of the residence. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, very attentive to individual needs and Mum always complimented the food. Before the pandemic our Mum enjoyed the social activities and especially the frequent outings and shopping trips. During the pandemic, Stonehaven did everything “by the book” with an extra dose of caution, and thankfully remained COIVD-free. As restrictions lifted our Mum again enjoyed walking the well-kept grounds and the neighbourhood, including the beautiful forest across the street. Recommending Stonehaven comes without reservation — until her needs recently changed, Stonehaven was ideal.

My mom has been a resident at the Chartwell Stonehaven Seniors Residence since July 2021.
It has been a very positive experience thus far and I have no doubt it will continue to be a positive experience moving forward. The residence is beautifully maintained! It is clean , bright and welcoming! The staff is exceptional! The director of the residence sets a very positive tone and the staff follow suit! The people who run Stonehaven are dynamic, caring, loving, fun and genuinely interested in working with seniors! Their sincerity shows! They have been diligent and thorough in respecting all guidelines during this pandemic! They have made the safety of the residents the number one priority and as a result they have not had any issues with cases of Covid or variants! My mom feels very safe here and I have peace of mind! My heartfelt compliments and gratitude to the entire staff! I recommend this lovely residence without hesitation! Linda Grossi

My mother decided to move to Kanata from Montreal after my father died in 2022. When she arrived she had a sudden health crisis and I had to quickly find a residence for her. We had visited Stonehaven before and I went in to see if they had room. From the second I walked in the help I received was overwhelming. We were able to arrange for her to move in a week later and get the care she needed to recover, and for me to be able to keep going.
Mom has been there for 6 months now and is adjusting well, she also has access to a doctor - no small thing in 2023. She has new friends and enjoys the woods in the area and is looking forward to using the courtyard in better weather. All of the staff are outstanding. I cannot thank them enough, they made a tough time so much easier.
