My dad was there for less than a year. He had lewey body dementia and it became apparent very quickly that the support staff was not trained how to deal with “angry” patients. To avoid being yelled at they simply did not tend to him. I came to visit him one day to find a puddle of urine on the floor and his bed completely soaked. The staff even said they avoided any attempt to help him.

Then a meeting with the Dr. and a nurse meeting occurred and the solution was to drug him to the point of him just being sedated all the time. We decided to move him to another home based on this. Best decision we made. He got in at the Kipnes Center for Veterans and received the care he deserved. The Citadel staff advised against it stating that it could affect his overall well being, but anything would have been better than him staying where he was.

Having said that, the nurses were very good. It’s the support staff that weren’t very supportive.

My mother in law was only at this facility for a short time, sadly, however we were extremely pleased with the level of care she received. Everyone from the receptionist to the social worker, rec therapist, nurses, dietician and HCA’s were lovely. Mum was in another care home previously and received just the basic care, but let us know that she was well taken care of at the Citadel.

Thanks for the excellent care that our mom is getting at the Citadel. The staff are friendly and competent. The facilities are well taken care of and clean. Mom is very happy at the Citadel, which is a great comfort to all of us who love her.

One of the best long term care homes. Citadel has the highest quality of nurses and health care aides. Management is fantastic and the director of care is the most genuine and compassionate woman. Overall a very caring and respectful long term care home.

My mother has been there one year as of today. I have found all of the staff and management to be extremely attentive and caring. The efforts to provide some form of recreation for every resident are above and beyond what I had expected. Clean and very well maintained too. When my time comes I hope I find myself here.

The health care aides are amazing. The director of care is a young woman with a God complex. Half the staff left within months of her arrival, she caused poor moral where it used to be high. Unfortunate.

Never been there but definately suxks part of this place went up in smoke .thankx to the hard work of st Albert fire department and other FD jurisdictions only roof got gutted .oh well at least the place. Will have a new roof partially.
