Where do I start? When ever I was looking for help for my 16 yr old daughter everyone seemed to close the doors on my face. Its hard enough for anyone who has a mental illness or someone looking after someone with a mental illness but trying to find the right help shouldn't be so hard. After months of having no help we were directed here. I can't say enough good things about my daughters therapist Josee. She has been amazing with my daughter and me. She is one of the most genuine, caring and if you need someone to help you fight for what you need Josee is your girl. I can't thank her enough for what she has done for us.
If you are struggling don't hesitate to seek help. I hope you get an angel in disguise like Josee because it could change your life.❤️

For the addiction and mental health clinic stationed beside the Cornwall hospital. This is an amazing place to go to, even though this is my third time going through the process. They are still very caring, patient and a wonderful team. I can’t thank you all enough for all the help you have provided!
Highly recommend, just always be honest with them, they will always help!

In all honesty you'll have a better time killing yourself then getting help from these people. It's also quicker and easier then these people ever helping.

Delete your old reviews all you want your still a 1 star hospital. No doctors onsite no triage nurses, people bleeding out on the floor for hours waiting for A number to be called, waiting room so full no seats. And staff has no clue what to do in an emergency. Not a single triage nurse so lots of blood everywhere. The only good reviews come from hospital staff, just like review from Victoria. But hey at least they spent Millions on marble decoration and hallways....

Worst "Wait List" Time/Length I've ever seen.

7 Months - Numerous Referrals

I moved to Cornwall from another city - with referrals from my current mental health team aswell as my family doctor and was told it will be atleast 7 months before I'm able to recieve help here.

Their suggestion was to go to the "4th floor" (inpatient) for a stay if I needed immediate help.

Back story - I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 with rapid cycling over a year ago and schizophrenia roughly 4 years ago - at 23 I started to take my mental health into my own hands - 2 years of trying different meds and constant therapy (CBT) I am finally making progress. Unfortunately I had to move immediately and housing being on the cheaper end in Cornwall I moved here. I never dreamed that cheap rent somehow also ment cheap mental health care.

Point is I spent 2 years working so hard at getting back to feeling "normal". Through all the up's and down's I was trying not to give in.
Moving to Cornwall - their extreme wait times and lack of wanting to help really set me back.

As someone with a mental health disorder I'm very disappointed in how the Cornwall Mental Health System is ran. There are people out there who want to help - unfortunately maybe not in Cornwall.

Inpatient treatment does not help/work for everyone. Specially if a person is on the right track, taking the correct steps and has made sufficient progress towards being a honourable member of society....

I am very lucky to have an amazing support team in Lanark County - I have no idea where I would be or what I would do with out them. I hope Cornwall Mental Health pulls its socks up... you have to opportunity to change lives - locking them up in a glorified asylum shouldnt be the first answer

Do not give up - not all Mental Health Buildings are ran this way!

*also I would like to note the screening lady I had was a very kind woman. She was very calm and compassionate with some humor. A light and kind hearted person. To bad whoever runs Cornwall Mental Health is not more like her...

They cancelled my Psychiatry appointment without telling me, because they closed my file when throwing me into group therapy I didn't want. One of their group therapists (there was two, the other was an angel) insulted me about having a SDiT in front of the whole group, causing me to stop going, now my file is closed and they don't have my appointment that was booked since December Better get some answers Monday... really not impressed.

I went here in February 11,2022 and the staff is the kindest and most attentive people that I’ve ever experienced in ANY hospital. The wait was not too long, and received tests, and results within 2 hours. My nurse,Taylynn was so amazing and kind…I don’t have enough positive things to say about this hospital.Thank you for taking good care of me.
