I have never had any issues with garbage collection, my driver is respectful of my bins and is usually here around the same time every pickup day. (Within an hour). I am careful with sorting, so I never have a problem. I

I called and ordered a BIN, was told several times they couldn't bill the same day of drop off - fine, so fast forward to their time line, I finally get my bin for my renovation, no worries. It's a week rental, and if I need it for additional time it's $10 extra per day. PERFECT! We only need it for a week I say!

7 days into the BIN rental (today) I give a call to EFR to confirm they will be coming to pick up the Bin, they tell me NO they won't be, I needed to call to advise it was ready for pickup... OK, well no one told me that, here it is a Friday, and good thing I've called at 9am...

So, they're coming to pick it up Monday - again, no problem. It can sit here and wait, whatever.

However here is the problem - I am being charged ADDITIONAL FEES for their delay to come and pick it up on Monday. Even though I wasn't told that I needed to call at the 7 day mark. Even though the bin rental was for 7 days. Since there seem to be only two employees here, Cindy & Neil, and they tell "ALMOST EVERYONE" the rules... well, I guess I'm just stuck paying for knowledge I didn't have.

Guess everyone's out to make a buck these days, save yourself the headache and order from another small local company. I own a drywalling company and will need rentals in the future, I'll be sourcing out a different company who doesn't pick and choose who or what they invoice.

Terrible Management!

We hired a landscaping contractor who autonomously sub-contracted EFR Environmental to provide a dumpster for the purpose of removing dirt from our yard as part of a landscaping project. The contractor we hired did not finish the job and left the dumpster on our property. We contacted EFR assuming they would want their dumpster back, their representatives informed us the contractor left the dumpster in an unsuitable condition for them to pick up; it was over-weight and filled with soil which is a prohibited material for their use. We had arranged a verbal agreement in early July 2022 that EFR would come collect the dumpster along with its full contents. We were assured that they would call us first to make sure that we were home. Since we didn't enter into any legal contract with EFR, we were told that we would not be charged for the removal of the dumpster, the disposal of the contents, or the time it spent on our property (approx. four months).
The plan fell apart, fast. Not only did they fail to show up for four weeks after the agreed upon date, they showed up unannounced while we were on vacation in another province. Thankfully our house sitter happened to be at our house when they arrived. Once there, they told the house sitter that the dumpster contents would be dumped on our driveway so that they could remove the dumpster with their regular equipment as they had been unsuccessful at obtaining payment from the contractor who hired their services. We called the branch manager and found a level of professionalism that must only exist in two places: 1) EFR management and 2) The bottom of a frequently used, sunbaked outhouse. Within a matter of seconds, we were being threatened that the dumpster and all estimated eight tonnes of its contents would in fact be dumped on our driveway and that we would be receiving the bill. We also had the branch manager say we deserved the bill and garbage dumped on our driveway because we hired the contractor?
I don't like being threatened nor do I like playing the blame game, and seeing as I was on my first vacation of four years, I was upset that a full grown adult toting a “manager” title was doing this. I didn't want to waste my day on the phone fixing this issue as it would have been the human thing to let us enjoy our vacation and deal with this two business days later. The branch manager, when directly asked "do we have to absolutely talk about this right now, or could we figure out a solution the following Monday?" started going off about a hook that had nothing to do with my question. I didn't want to hear his uninteresting story about a hook, so I interrupted and re-iterated my original question; essentially, could this wait until we’re home Monday? To this, he informed me that I was rude and didn't let him answer. Fair enough, I gave him another opportunity to answer my straight forward question. Given a third chance now to display even the most minuscule amount of human compassion, empathy or a basic understanding of the question, the branch manager again started rambling about a hook. For the fourth time, I repeated my original question to which he replied: "well it's not moving today." Finally a break through! I asked if the dumpster would be moved the following day (Friday). After assuring me it would not be moved Friday, I asked if it would be moved Saturday. I was attempting to circle back to the point of could this wait until Monday, and he hung up on us.
I don't think EFR should continue this business practice of trespassing onto properties, threatening to illegally dump tonnes of their dumpster’s contents in their driveways and then subsequently bill them for it.
The fact that the contractor rented their dumpster, overloaded them with incorrect material and now refuses to pay, is not our issue. We never entered into a contract with EFR!
All this to say, if you go with EFR, use caution as members of their management like to attempt to steal your money by bullying you into a payment, even if you have never entered into any contract with them.
