My dad had to be in emergency all day yesterday as he waited for a bed and received a temporary pace maker. I must say I was so impressed by the service and the kindness of the staff. His nurse and the resident doctor went the extra mile to ensure I understood what was going on and that he received the best care.

If you want to be yelled at and treated like garbage be at this emergency room. The checking nurses are disrespectful and full of attitude. Especially the ones in the morning and overnight. They have not compassion or empathy for you. They believe they own your life and they can talk to you how they want. They all on the same team, no one cares I hope they get that treatment when they get into emergency or ICU. AVOID THIS EMERGENCY ROOM.

Having been here multiple times (broken bones, organ failure, traumatic head injury, and more!) I’ve received excellent care each time. FMC is a trauma centre, so unless you’re actually dying or at risk of critical injuries, you are not a priority. This is why we have urgent care centres. The wait isn’t great, but That being said, once you’re receiving treatment the staff are great. They are professionals working overtime, short staffed, and with poor support from the government. They’re doing the best they can with what they have. 10/10 would have my appendix removed here again.

My son had spinal surgery. That same evening he developed complications. We went to emerg and explained he had surgery on his disc's thst morning and shouldn't stand more than 10 min. He was unable to sit. They made him wait 3 hours. He had 1 lite of urine in his bladder. His body was swelling, his back was throbbing. Emerg almost killed him. Save yourself and call an ambulance.

Personally…. I was in rough shape a tad afraid and I was helped and I felt safe comfortable, the staff was friendly and caring. Yes the wait times were long (there is a lot of people in this city) I was very thankful to be getting the attention I needed

These humans work very hard to keep us healthy

horrible experience.

came in at 2 am with food stuck in my windpipe, and left exhausted after waiting for 8 hours, and after being personally disrespected by the nurses. was told multiple times "oh it wont be long now!" don't lie to people.

moved from one waiting room to another, had to explain my situation four separate times to four separate nurses with food still in my lungs, forcing me to talk when i could barely do so is completely unnecessary, and cruel. why couldn't your patient information travel internally waste of time and resources to have four separate nurses take the same notes four separate times. no wonder your wait times are so slow, youre all wasting time giving each other the run around!

my needs were not addressed. when i left to go to another hospital, the nurse just gave me excuses as to why its so bad. "oh we're short staffed, oh it was late and now its morning so its faster now! oh well youre not a priority"

i can understand if youre short staffed, but when the place is brimming with nurses and theres not a doctor in sight, somethings not right.

if the place is supposed to be operating 24 hours, why is the place not staffed to capacity for the night shifts, when emergencies happen at any time?

lastly, how is food stuck in someones lungs not a priority emergency i couldnt breathe, you'd think the risk factor alone would be a cause for concern, but apparently not!

zero stars, this place is broken. dont come here unless you want to be treated like trash and/or left for dead at the hands of hundreds of malignant nurses.

My visit to the emergency department at Foothills Hospital was absolutely horrifying—a complete nightmare. I arrived struggling to breathe, with dangerously low oxygen saturation, feeling as if I were dying. But do you think the staff cared? Not at all.

I waited over three agonizing hours without receiving any medical attention. As I was on the verge of collapse, the medical staff simply laughed and joked around, treating my suffering as if it were some sort of entertainment. They were completely indifferent to my pain and desperation. Every minute felt like torture as I pleaded for help, yet I was met with disdain and utter lack of humanity.

The negligence at this hospital is frightening. No one should have to beg for medical attention, especially in a place that is supposed to handle emergencies. It’s unbelievable that individuals who have taken an oath to care for others can be so heartless and cruel.

After three hours of agony, I finally decided to leave and seek help elsewhere since Foothills didn’t care if I lived or died. This experience was a real nightmare that I will never forget. I can’t help but wonder how many other lives have been put in danger due to their negligence.

This hospital is a risk to any patient needing urgent care. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. Foothills should be investigated, and the staff must be trained to understand what it means to be human. It’s unacceptable and they should be ashamed.
