Been there a couple of times, employees rather talk and socialize amongst themselves talking about their favorite songs and buying leather jackets. Wait over an hour and fourty five minutes. Just to be told there is no doctor and can't be helped. I ask why they couldn't have let me known when I got there, they said they where "busy" meanwhile that whole hour and 45 minutes waiting there has only been 1 patient in and I'm pretty sure they just talked about fishing.

I really don't know how some of these people have jobs and are employed. It's actually very embarrassing for Canada's Healthcare reputation. The employees come to work to just socialize and act like their in high-school. Quite sad.

Went there for first time ever , I don’t know whether they were the RN’s or what . But they don’t know how to behave and how to treat the patient coming to them to ask that how long would the doctor will be taking to make a decision . I asked one of them to know when their doctor gonna come to see us , she goes like ,” our doctor is not on leash , if we would have , then we might be able to tell you “. Which was ridiculous. They should know how to behave , it seems like they are just there to make good money not for serving the public .

I’m from out of province and had a severe allergic reaction while visiting the area. I came into emergency and they rudely asked my husband to leave stating it was against policy for him to be there. On the way to the hospital he’d made a point of asking me what I’d taken. Sure enough when I was a being assessed I couldn’t remember. “My husband knows, ask him….oh wait, you can’t…” The reaction subsided and after hours of being there I wanted to leave but had forgotten my Alberta health card with my luggage. They wouldn’t let me leave even though I offered to leave my credit card number which they could use to bill me in the event I didn’t provide it at a later date. The doctor came to talk to me personally. He asked what I did for a living to which it I responded HR. He then went on to reiterate over and over the importance of payment for service, “in HR you understand this yes?” What a joke. I left without being completely discharged and as promised l provided them with my AB health # a day later. Thanks for making me feel like a second class citizen and that my health was your first priority ?$$$$$$$$

To all staff members at this hospital! Thank you for not letting this current government make you dislike your jobs like so many Winnipeg hospitals. Thank you!

My wife and I try our best to stay out of any hospitals unless it's evident that we need professional care.
The both of us suffered for 2 weeks with covid like symptoms before heading to Gimli hospital. Upon arriving we were given new masks, gave our information and got into a mindset of waiting for hours.
This was not the case, in 10 minutes we were both seen and they took tests and throat swabs. Waited another 15 minutes to be ushered into an examination room. 5 minutes and in came the doctor that gave us the covid positive diagnosis. Given prescription and away we went.
Caring busy staff were always courteous and took time to answer all our questions.
A big thank you to the Gimli staff.

I just spent 4 hours in emergency and received excellent care. The nurses and doctor were very attentive and caring. We need to thank our health care workers and professionals more often. Some of the people they had to deal with while I was there were very difficult, yet they never showed any frustration and remained professional. I for one couldn’t do their jobs. Thanks again for taking care of me when I needed it.

I went here yesterday in the midst of an Asthma attack. I was looking for an emergency inhaler or a nebulizer treatment.

The second I got there I was treated as if I was an annoyance, despite me kindly describing my condition between uncomfortable gasps for air. The first nurse told me to wait in the waiting room. I was called into the doctors office a few minutes later. A different nurse began the assessment.

She checked my oxygen level which was 4-5-% lower than average and it was getting worse throughout the day. Then she checked my breathing with the stethoscope. She told me to take deep breaths, which I did. But I was in extreme pain while taking those breaths.

She said“ “…Your breathing looks good to me” in a tone that suggested I was lying about my current condition. Then I said I was in pain while taking those breaths. She said “Of course you were, because you have asthma, that’s apart of your condition.” (As if I did not know that.) This was a ridiculous thing to say. I was there to seek treatment for my condition, I did not go to learn the definition of asthma.

Then I was not treated, I asked if I would be able to receive treatment after the assessment, and she said the doctor will have to assess me before I can be given any form of treatment. I asked when the doctor would be available and she said she could not give me a timeline. And that if I didn’t want to wait I can leave. (As I was struggling to breathe.) I was also the only patient in the waiting room, there were no other patients waiting in the hospital, despite this, no one was able to treat my asthma. And I was talked to in a rude and degrading way, as if I was a bad person for seeking medical treatment in a hospital.

I ended up going back to Winnipeg and I took my
emergency inhaler that I haven’t needed for years. Going to this hospital was waste of time. It appeared as if they don’t care to help/treat anyone.
