Good grocery store. Prices are usually pretty low which I like. Not going to lie sometimes the fruit there is moldy but they have just about everything else. Also very close to some other spots you may frequent

I normally go to the No Frills in Barrie but I decided to stop in this location on my way through Angus.
I’m relatively new to the area and this is the best No Frills I’ve been to so far.
It’s nothing special but everything is much cleaner and I feel that the produce is better than the Barrie locations.
The cashiers and aisle workers are also super friendly.
My only issue is that you need a Dollar instead of a quarter to use the carts.

I hate to give a 1 star due to one cashier Carol-Ann but it seems to be an on going issue with her based off of other Google reviews for this location. I have witnessed her being rude and racist to customers on several occasions. One time in particular towards my husband who is of West Indian decent. She mutters under her breath and made a ridiculous remark towards me about a lady of color price matching once while I waited my turn ‘these people are all the same’ and she rolled her eyes. Thinking I would agree, disgusting. Today was my final straw after witnessing her being extremely rude to a black woman as she forgot to put her bag on the belt, a simple ‘May I please see your bag or please put your bag on the belt’ would have sufficed. But she screamed out to her ‘EXCUSE ME WHAT IS IN YOUR BAG?’ Resulting in every customer stopping and turning and making this woman out to be a criminal. The lady complied and timidly showed her the bag was empty. Afterwards her and the cashier working beside her giggled as if she was proud of her ‘power trip’. So unprofessional. I spoke with Jim the on floor store manager and he seemed concerned about the incident and said he would be speaking to Justin (assuming the franchise owner?). I hope something comes of this. Enough is enough. If you see something say something.

I recently visited this No-Frills location and had an unpleasant experience with a cashier named Carol-Ann. During my transaction, she communicated new store policies in a condescending manner, specifically instructing me to place all my shopping bags on the belt and making sure the 4L water bottles in my cart were also placed there. In the past, I’ve been able to simply inform cashiers of the quantity of items like water, and they can count them visually, so this felt unnecessarily directive.

While I understand the importance of enforcing store policies, this was not my first negative interaction with Carol-Ann. On a previous visit, I attempted to return spoiled milk just a day after purchase, and her response made me feel as though I was at fault. I typically try to avoid her lane, but today, I had no choice.

I believe Carol-Ann would benefit from some customer service training to improve her approach in dealing with customers. As I read through other reviews, it seems I am not alone in my concerns, with multiple customers mentioning similar issues. Additionally, there are broader complaints about potential racial profiling at this store, which may suggest larger systemic concerns.

While I understand the store may be grappling with theft issues, I believe there is a more respectful and considerate way to communicate policies to customers. Better training in customer service could help improve the overall experience for all shoppers.
