I recently visited this optical store and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The service was the worst I’ve ever encountered. The lady owner initially seemed engaging and friendly, but her demeanor changed completely after payment. She became cold, unwelcoming, and even condescending, making the rest of the experience incredibly uncomfortable. It felt as though her only concern was the money, not the customer’s satisfaction or well-being. There was no kindness or empathy shown, which is disappointing when you expect a professional and caring service, especially in a health-related business. I would not recommend this store to anyone looking for a positive and supportive experience.

Picking glasses was no problem getting them however was another story. I gave them my prescription and they told me they would have them ordered that day. Week later i call in asking where bouts my glasses were and they said they haven’t ordered them because i never came in for the eye exam. I then had to explain 3 times that i gave them my prescription and was not getting an eye exam and that i wanted the same prescription i have now. We are now on week 2 still no glasses they said they'd be in today and surprise surprise, they’re not. Ever other place I've gotten glasses I’ve received them with in 2-3 days of picking them out. Not here. Seems like they have no idea what they’re doing and they don't listen to you what so ever.

We had a horrible experience here. They overcharge for their glasses compared to other independent opticians. My husband was adamant that he did not want the blue light filter on his lenses but when he received them it was on it anyways. They didn't adjust our glasses for fit either. I've had glasses for 30 years now (since I was 7). Whenever I received glasses in the past the optician always adjusted the arms and nose pads so the glasses would fit best on my face. Laurier's "check" was to have us look down and shake our heads and if the glasses didn't fall off then they said they didn't need adjusting - which is complete nonsense. The arms were hurting me behind my ears right from the get-go. We had to go to another optician and pay them to adjust the arms and nose pads. It seems like the people Laurier has selling frames and lenses are not properly trained. They weren't even aware of the difference between anti glare and anti scratch. Avoid this place.

I would avoid this place at all costs, and I won't even mention the price of the glasses. The experience and knowledge of the staff is subpar, although I will mention that everyone in the store was polite. I had specifically asked to not have a blue filter coating added to my glasses. In fact, I spent a good amount of time emphasizing that I do not want it. Lo and behold, my glasses had the filter on it. Further to that, the process of getting the glasses fitted and adjust is something a 5th grader could do better. Their process to "make sure it fits" was to have us tilt our heads forward, and shake our heads to make sure they don't fall off. When we pointed out that this isn't how you fit glasses their response was "this is how we always do it". No professional would ever ask you to do this. Ultimately we had to visit another optician in Brockville to get a proper fitting. Now to add insult to injury, my wife left a similar review with the same negative feedback, and this morning I had a phone call from the owner asking about our service. I got it out of her that she was notified by Laurier Optical Headoffice about a Google review. Anyone that reads my wife's review would realize that there's no "fixing" the situation. We have never experienced such garbage service in our lives and we aren't going to be bought off. The owner wanted us to change our review. The very fact that she "got a call from headoffice" instructing her to call me to fix it was insulting enough, because the opportunity to fix it was when we mentioned this isn't the way to fit glasses, and before we went to another place to get the service we should have received from Laurier Optical. As I mentioned this on the phone the owner kept trying to talk over me and interrupt me. The very fact that they called me in an effort to buy off our review was upsetting enough and I started to get upset and she then tried to turn that around on me saying I was being rude and that I "can't talk to her that way". I finally lost my temper and hung up. I have never in my life had such a terrible customer experience.

If we could provide a 0 star review, we would. The Optometrist along with his admin asst - Natasha, were both extremely rude, unprofessional and abrasive. We were warned in advance not to go here, but unfortunately didn't listen. Disgustingly horrible service.
