We sold some household items and bought several vehicles via McDougall Auctions. The buyer's and seller's fee was 15% at each end. These guys have moved away from smaller items and have very limited service for small items which are usually grouped on a pallet and sold as a lot. We discussed with the sales person that we wanted several items to be separated from the 'bunched lot' . Unfortunately, our request was ignored, We did very poorly on the lot sale, McDougall made promises that they could not or will not honor. Their expert appraisers have very limited knowledge on construction machines and vehicles. They are all about the quantity of large machines and equipment they can list and not the value discussed to get the item listed by their so called expert team.
Very disappointed with the sale and service results.

I used to have an account at McDougall auctions but cancelled after getting screwed too many times. After some time passed I reopened my account. Nothing has changed. I bought a slip tank that had a half inch hole in it with a screw sticking out of it. The description nor the pictures mentioned or showed this. I bought a second slip tank that they described as being 500 liters but was actually 300 liters, and the pump didn’t work….. at least there was no hole in it this time I guess. Now I bid on a slip tank that they described as being 2500 liters but after bidding on it and looking at the pictures over and over and comparing the ratio of the tank to the pump it seems to be a 400 liter tank. I called McDougall auctions and asked them to cancel my bid which they wouldn’t do. So if I get high bid I’m refusing to accept or pay for it. They can cancel my account or try to charge my credit card which they are blocked on now or they can even take me to court. I have enough grounds to rescind my bid. These guys are scumbags!

As a long time McDougall Auction customer, I was surprised and very disappointed in my most recent experience.
Read the fine print….. they now charge a minimum $20. fee per item you purchase.
So, a small $5. item all of a sudden is $25.
I recently bought 5 cheaper items and had an additional $100. added to my bill. To me this is a deal breaker and I will now be a “former customer”.
What used to be a good thing…is not so good anymore.

My crippled autistic son saved for an entire year to buy a piece of equipment for his acreage. The transmission was broken and it didn’t work. He wasted thousands and they refused to let him return it. Now he has a pile of scrap. We had faith they would sell a product in working order since we paid $650 in sales fees alone they should take responsibility for the sale.

Never again will I even consider buying from this place. It’s a scam!

If I were to write the number of ways these guys will try and scam you out of money or sell you something that certainly doesn’t work or doesn’t run, I’d be here for an eternity.
First, never consign anything with them. They don’t even open boxes and just throw it on a pallet and then take 50% of whatever you might manage to scrape out of there with. Tell me you don’t care without telling me you don’t care.
Also, expect that everything you buy will be end of life, not working, broken, and with vehicles, nothing listed in the description. They cover this by stating that everything should be viewed ahead of time in person and put further disclaimers in that just because something might run at the time of the listing doesn’t mean it will at pickup. Fair enough. Wait, what? Really they should just say that you should expect nothing. Zero service, zero honesty, zero accountability. I guess there is one constant that you can look forward to and that’s the crazy fees they charge. They’re constantly upping their fees and providing less service.
Apparently their latest scam is to sell lots of items and not include half the stuff, tell you to call their office then never call back and do nothing. This is FRAUD. Zero refund. Zero care.
Pick up is terrible from any of their home locations, with long wait times, total chaos, and general unhelpfulness combined with employees who clearly hate their lives and cashiers who don’t want to be there, but try picking something up from their City of Regina yard auctions. Or do yourself a favour and don’t try it. The invoice states there will be help in the yard, but there is nothing. No machinery to move dead vehicles and the dumbest jamming of them all in together. So much for having our own flat deck ready to go. We had to call a tow and watch two trucks and four guys struggle for two hours to get a vehicle out of its parking spot. Even they were extremely unimpressed. That’s what passes for help? Honestly, it’s just par for the course here.
Seriously, avoid this place at all costs.
