Meaford hospital has ALWAYS been great to deal with, but whatever doctor they had working through the day in Emerg this past Monday was shockingly the rudest, most uncaring and dismissive doctor I’ve EVER dealt with. I hope he does NOT further pursue a career in healthcare - or any form of “customer service” for that matter!!

I was scheduled for surgery and my paper said 1130. I got a call at about 940 the morning of and was told the surgeon was “way ahead of schedule” and was asked to be at the hospital for 1030 and that it didn’t make sense that I was scheduled for surgery at 1130 and to be there for 1130 so it would be great if I could come for 1030.
I got to the hospital at about 1020 and registered. Was taken back and hooked up to IV and all that.. and then I waited, and waited and waited. I finally asked someone after over 2 hours of waiting when my surgery was and they said it wasn’t for at least another hour.. when I told them I was called to come in early they told me “maybe they thought someone wasn’t showing up”… an hour later and I still hadn’t gone in for surgery. I’ve had a lot of surgeries and I’ve never in my life had to wait over 3 hours to have a scheduled surgery done. Not only does it affect me, but also the person who has to drive me as they are wasting their day for a completely disorganized process. Very unimpressed

I am happy everytime I go to emergency room with my kids or for my self. We are seen very quickly and blood work and x ray even ultrasounds are done relatively quick. The doctors are amazing and answer all your questions and the nurses are so polite and respectful. I love living in meaford and having this hospital close.

I don't know what goes on here but the staff are very condescending most of the time?. I'd think it was me lol but I don't encounter this anywhere else. I feel like I shouldn't be trusting them with my family's health because of this adversity.

THE WORST!!! Basically they left my family member to die alone. In a room with no conversation or brain stimulation, just drop off food and help with toilet. They put up so many road blocks and try to make it impossible to save a person from death. The doctor NEVER once replied to my 5 messages I left to call me. They wasted precious time and no answers or communication. I wanted to speak with the Dr not the RN who questioned my requests for my family member. They had every excuse as to why I couldn’t transfer the care within my city 2 hours away. I discharged them myself and moved them to where they are now receiving proper medical treatment. My advice to you is to not listen to these “medical experts “and their advice and advocate for your family members who need you to fight for them. They will still challenge your choices and make you feel like you’re making a mistake when any normal person knows what is best. I cannot express how atrocious the lack of not wanting to put effort into their jobs. Everything was inconvenient…inconvenient for whom?!? Too much paperwork I suppose or it might require phone calls. I was able to get facts with dates straight by a simple phone call and the medical records they had on their file was WAY off from what I had found. Please do what you feel is best if you’re a POA. Otherwise they will just direct you towards death. No accountability or integrity. They will let you just die like a dog.

I no our health care has gone down the tubes but this experience truly shows how little communication and how little care and effort people put into there jobs
5 days ago my father in law was admitted to Meaford hospital he was in bad shape he only has one leg and he is on dialysis which he had missed some appointments he wasn’t eating and very depressed from being alone
On that same day the doctor who assessed his situation while he was obviously not in any state of mind to make any decisions decided. He would not continue his dialisis and would let him die
The second Day he was there me and my wife decide to drive out there to, and a half hours away to see what state is in and what’s going on we quickly find out that he’s not doing his dialysis and they’re gonna let him go. We asked what condition he was in nobody would give us any answers. We asked who makes the decisions they don’t know we asked for the doctor to call us and give us the conditions in four days later he is still not called back to inform us of his conditions. Why he decided to not give him care the nurses give us the runaround attitude and judged us about our family passed, which they have no idea what it is and nobody would give us answers so we decide to go there on the fifth day after calling in the morning 930 am and speaking to a nurse and requested a call from the doctor and it’s lunch time and still no call back so we leave drive 2 hours pack up his stuff and and we get him out of there they didn’t even help putting him in my vehicle me and my wife did he. Was so weak I thought I would break him and we took him to grand River Hospital where he has been taken care of and back on dialysis and testing him so we can be informed of his condition i’m very disappointed And advise people to get a second opinion because I’ve quickly found out that people just don’t care about your loved ones and family is so important

The emergency was grossly lacking proper triage when I last attended. 4 medical staff sitting at desk but the administrator staff decided who got care and who didn’t. My son was in pain and needed surgery and no-one would even look at his issue. Literally. No one even bothered to look.
Everyone was put in the waiting room with little regard to why they were there.
Waited an hour and a half. One person called the entire time. Left. Drove to Collingwood and had surgery immediately.
Busy or not, the staff could do better than this.

Had the best care by amazing Nurses and Doctors,not that staying in a hospital is a good thing but I was in for a week ,I had the best care.
