I am surprised to see many complaints about this clinic. We have moved away from Vaughan to Toronto for several years, and I am still commuting here to the Sherman Clinic to receive care. My GP here genuinely cares and does her best to send me for comprehensive testing to troubleshoot my health concerns. We were able to talk to a front desk personnel and get urgent care appointments on the same day by calling in. My GP has good bedside manners with me and that is not always easy to find. The clinic is immaculate compared to many clinics I have been to. The staff is on time and does their job as they should whether it is taking you to your room or checking your vitals. Because the Sherman Clinic is connected to Mount Sinai Hospital downtown, referrals and communication within the Mount Sinai network are extra efficient. I hope that this clinic continues to provide the excellent service it has been offering.

Unfortunately, the reviews about incompetent administration are accurate. There are many examples and even referral doctors have complained to me that standard procedures were not being followed. At one time I needed to see my doctor on a relatively urgent basis. Even the after hours clinic required an appointment at that time but appointments are nearly impossible to obtain. After being a patient for many years, no one has ever picked up a phone call. Messages left are not returned. I decided to go to their office on my way home to make an appointment for another day, whereupon I was informed that appointments can only be made by telephone and not in person. I called while standing in the waiting room and watched as none of the numerous desk staff answered the call, not even the one that knew that it was me calling. She described that these procedures were to ensure efficiency of their operations. I responded that turning patients away resulting in empty waiting rooms was not efficiency. I had to go to a walk-in clinic. I changed family doctors soon after.

I love my doctor and the nurses are great but the front desk/phone reception is beyond awful. It's impossible to get ahold of anyone or to leave a voicemail. The phone line transfers to an answering machine that makes you leave your number so they can call you when it's ONLY CONVENIENT FOR THEM. Not to mention I came in-person for my appointment a month ago, the receptionist was so rude and very snappy. Also the audacity for them to advise not to call the clinic unless it's super urgent... why is this our problem that there's a staffing shortage? It's like they don't want to assist patients, the way they run the clinic is a joke and a disgrace. My doctor is literally the only reason why I put up with staying at this clinic. The front desk staff need to make major changes otherwise patients will be leaving left and right. Please do better.

1. The doctor that covered for my GP who was on maternity leave did my physical exam “remotely”. I still mention that to people, and people still think that could not have happened. I should add that this happened in early 2022, well after lockdown and when people were back to in-person work. Well, maybe everyone except for GPs. When I asked if she had results from the specialist I saw about a year ago, she suggested that I should look into why no consult note was sent to them. Instead of this office following up and asking for consult notes to be resent, this office/MD thinks that it is the patient’s responsibility to manage their own records. I ended up calling the specialist’s office, who asked the specialist to review the findings of the visit the year before, then the secretary at that office called me back to relay the information. I still don’t know if the GP has this information, or perhaps I should maintain a chart of my own at home for myself….

2. The worst administrative/secretarial system that I have personally experienced from any medical clinic ever. It’s not unusual to spend over 30 minutes on hold. Today I called for an appointment with the nurse for a vaccination that is not typically given to adults. The secretary said she had to check with the nurse if they had the vaccine in stock and that she would call me back. That was two days ago, and I’m still waiting for a return call. I’m sorry to say that this was what I expected would happen. I’m already making alternate arrangements to get the vaccine elsewhere as I need it for my job and it is time-sensitive. It shouldn’t take this long for follow-up. I am sorry for people who are actually sick and need prompt attention, and will not get it.

Trying to reach for an appointment but not successful extremely frustrated and hence writing this review. This is not the first time. I have never experienced such a horrible customer service with any physician or other health professionals.
Due to the horrible service ( not answering calls and never returning calls), I never get to see my doctor when in need and always end up going to walk in clinics. What's the point of having a family doctor when u cannot get an appointment when you are in need
Long time ago when my son was sick I got to speak to a receptionist and I requested an appointment for walk in clinic. It was just a few minutes before 5 and I was asked to call back after 5 to book an appointment and ofocurse after 5 no one answered.. Non sense.
The service at the reception does not even deserve a 1/5.

I like my doctor, but your call system is ridiculous! Please fix it this is a doctors office, how are we supposed to let our doctors know if we have an emergency and can't make it, or if something got in the way of our appointment. Makes us look bad for not respecting their time when it's really the inability to call the office. Only ever leave call back numbers, you can never get through to someone. Right now I needed to call about me running late to my appointment to let my social worker know but I can't! How is that fair. Please listen to your clients and change this system.

My friend and I had the worst experience ever at this hospital. He had to get an extraction for his tooth because it was broken and infected. Not only did the procedure take 2 hours (not including wait time. Just for them to take out the tooth) but they charged us $500. If he wasn’t in so much pain and it wasn’t an emergency situation, there wouldn’t have been any way that we would sit through all of that. I’ve called patient relations more than 5 times and left a message. No one responded. Have never been so dissatisfied with a hospital in my life. Absolutely ridiculous. After the extraction they didn’t give him any antibiotics so the infection got worse until he had to go back to his family physician where he was told that he should’ve been on antibiotics a long time ago. Fast forward to a week, he is still in so much pain. So sad. Hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

This review is for an experience I had 4 years ago with Dr. Michelle Levi. I was pregnant back then and when I went for my appointment I realized she is pregnant too. I thought she might have a better understanding of my problem due to that. However, she had the worst bedside manner, refused to give me a requisition for any tests and ignored my pain and suffering. That was my last visit there. Do not recommend her. Also she needs to google when you ask a question!! I can google myself, what is the point!!
