I have to trek clear across town to visit Ottawa West Travel Medicine, and I've done so VERY HAPPILY for 3 years in a row now (before big trips to Nepal and Bhutan), because the clinic is so amazing. Each time, I've been lucky enough to have an appointment with Tanja, who is on the ball, thorough, kind, and cheerful. Her advice is fantastic and practical, because she's a traveller, too. And her vaccination injections don't hurt! 🙂 Thanks so much for all your help. I'll be back!

This is the same place as "Primacy Ottawa West Travel Clinic" despite them insisting it is not, you can see from the photos that it is the same lobby and doctor's office. It seems they have created an alternate name to operate under due to their last run on Google resulting in a 2.8* rating.

The office staff are beyond rude. At least the individuals I dealt with were. While the doctors are competent and the nurse is nice, my experience with the front office has left such a sour taste in my mouth that I would not return if I had a choice.

This review is not written in my name, due to fear of repercussions for posting it directly.

Jackie is a caring and attentive professional. She gave us clear guidance and direction on how to verify immunization status with the family doctor and through bloodwork. She did a thorough, regional analysis of travel plans to determine risk levels for specific pathogens and had advice on the important thinks to look for in water sterilization devices etc.. She responded quickly and expertly to questions in person and through follow up emails. She checked in on my husband following side effects to an initial vaccine dose and had advice on mitigating symptoms in future. I cannot say enough good things about how impressed my husband and I are!

Tanja was amazing - insanely knowledgeable and with a no-nonsense attitude, she ran through everything I could need to know quickly and clearly. I knew going in that there would be a ton of recommendations for my trip, but I never felt overwhelmed because she made it very clear what would best fit my needs.

The prices are reasonable compared to other travel clinics, there are no surprise fees, some vaccines are OHIP-covered and therefore free (unlike at private clinics), and I never felt like I was being upsold. In fact, I was given extra time and information to make decisions on more expensive vaccines.

Finally, Tanja knew exactly which shots would hurt more or less, and the chemistry for why! Aside from being interesting, that helped with planning the vaccines so I that could still sleep on my preferred side.

Overall I highly recommend this clinic and especially Tanja for your next trip!

The Ottawa Travel Medicine Clinic is the best I have ever seen! Truly I have never had such a positive medical experience in my life. I normally have 'White Coat Syndrome' and am really uncomfortable in clinic/hospital settings, but they immediately made me feel at ease. They went above and beyond with their level of care and education provided. They helped my husband and I evaluate our risk tolerance against the locations we were planning on visiting and supported us to put in place appropriate 'controls' such as bug spray, medications and vaccines and mitigate our risk of illness. We had an amazing trip and were relatively worry-free because of their guidance. I can't say enough good about these professionals! I wish we had more practitioners just like them.

Dr Lee and Tanja provided outstanding service. They repond very promptly to all questions and Dr Lee even found the time in his schedule to call me and discuss any potential drug interactions and risks with Travel vaccines. Having heard experiences from friends and colleagues regarding other travel medicine clinics in town this clinic and staff stand way above the rest. Keep it up and so good to see your passion for the subject material and caring your patients.
