May/2024: I would like to adjust my review to a slightly higher rating of 3 instead of 1 out of 5 as I feel this reflects some recent improvements, theres certainly still a ways to go but I am happy to see things at least looking like they're getting better in this community. The health system as a whole is still suffering but for the most part and from my recent experiences the individuals at Soldiers are trying extra hard to compensate, and for that they deserve recognition.

December/2023: Fair warning, if you're experiencing an emergency and don't think an ambulance can reach you in time skip this place entirely. Soldiers Memorial is less of a hospital at this point and more like a morgue. I wouldn't go here unless I was fully expecting to die and knew nothing could change it.

The emergency room is only open from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM. I have tried to edit this on Google. But it will not let me as emergency rooms are automatically put down for 24 hours of operation. As they should all be open at anytime. This is not the case at this hospital. And I believe this information to be dangerous. The healthcare provided by this establishment is subpar at best. Many people choose to live in pain then wait in this hospital for 6 to 14 hours. Which is unacceptable. This establishment is a disgrace to the Canadian healthcare system. And a good example of how our system is not working.

The hospital is always closed, Their covid guidelines were terrible, The nurses there are a mix of good and bad, but the doctors are almost always terrible. I was given the incorrect prescription for tonsilitus for 5 YEARS. Only now have i actually realized how bad this was for my health after going to the throat doctor in kentville. I've been berated multiple times by nurses and the doctors, even in emergencies. They let a man severely bleeding sit in the red chairs while i was called in to see the nurse. I refused and demanded the man bleeding out get immediate help. i was banging on the door for 5 minutes while that poor man bled all over the floor.
GO TO KENTVILLE. DO NOT GO HERE PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH.

If you have strep, tonsilitus, anything of that nature, please go to a specialist immediately. and if you need a ER for any other reason, please go to the kentville emerg.

They've got amazing staff. Even though I was clearly a random visitor with minor injury, I was treated with all their professionalism. They have caring nurses, doctors who know what they are doing, and make you feel at ease, and right medical equipment. Was quite fast too, didn't have to wait long anywhere.

Variety of services offered at this hospital. I'm glad we have this hospital in Middleton, NS.

i went to outpatients to get a prenatal
Checkup having no family doctor yet. The nurse who seen me was very nice and informative. I needed a prescription for antibiotics. It was high level priority, I needed the issue cleared before my child was born . Went to get my prescription and was turned away as no fax was received at the pharmacy . I called outpatients for help but to no avail, the dr I seen was unavailable and I’d have to return for another appointment . I tried another pharmacy trying to reroute a mistake. They pulled up every pharmacy in NS and there hadnt been a prescription faxed under my name since 2011. Called outpatients again, they were rude over the phone with both myself, my mother and my spouse. In the mean time my baby has been born. Finally I was able to get them to refax my prescription yesterday or so the said. My mother went to
Pick it up and the same story was given . It was not faxed . Again today I called. They cut me off during me trying to explain to them the situation and how serious I felt this was. I can’t believe how useless this staff and nurses are at this place. I still have no antibiotics, I feel like they’ve failed me. Do not go to this hospital . It should be shut down . They’re ignorant and careless . I’ve never been so frustrated . BEWARE.
