I recently had my son at South Health Campus and used this clinic throughout my pregnancy. I had a pleasant experience with all staff and doctors. The appointments were quick and convenient but never felt rushed or unsupported. The doctors listened to my wishes and birth plan and gave me the information I needed to make my own choices.

This review is for Dr. Hewson-Backfat and reception.

Dr. Hewson-Backfat is absolutely amazing! She is so understanding and caring. She took her time to fully understand and dig deep into my issues and referred me for all the necessary testing to look further into my condition. I absolutely loved every visit I had with her and was crushed when another doctor stepped in and transferred me to another clinic.

The reception is also fantastic! They are very kind and remember everyone by name and are so quick and efficient with their bookings. I never had to wait more than 10min to be seen and booking the next visit never took longer than a minute.

I will definitely miss this clinic and the way they made me feel comfortable and safe during my visits.

Giving this review two stars because the reception was always great and friendly. My appointments usually went well however many were late which is inconvenient but everywhere’s like that nowadays unfortunately. However, I’ve been processing a lot about my first birth and the traumatic circumcision experience we dealt with with this clinic. I’m still trying to accept it and heal and I feel like writing my experience for others will help. When I gave birth my gynaecologist believes I was stitched up wrong which has resulted in taking me 10 months postpartum to heal, and I’m still not fully healed. I stated the discomfort and pain when I had my 6 week checkup postpartum but she just did a quick look and said everything was fine which as a ftm idk how things go or how they should look yknow so I thought nothing of it but I’m still trying to heal to this day, possibly having to be recut/restitched. It is what it is, delivering at South Health was amazing too. However, what really hurts my soul and just gives me so much guilt is how my son’s circumcision went here. We chose to be apart of it cause no one’s going to comfort him better than us during it. Before it begun we were reading over the aftercare sheet which was contradicting and had errors which I pointed out to the doctor whom never noticed-no big deal. Just wanted clarification and he fixed them for future use to future clients-great. The procedure was so traumatic. I get it, no surgery is great however the nurse kept shoving his soother in his mouth while he was screaming during the procedure when I mentioned he doesn’t even take one to begin with-in the pre-instructions it said to bring one so we did-but I ended up taking it away cause I just couldn’t handle her putting it in his mouth the whole time when he clearly didn’t want it. I’m no doctor obviously but it didn’t even seem like the numbing worked cause he was screaming/bawling the whole time, literally crushed me and I was bawling with him in there. After the surgery, the aftercare instructions stated to clean it with alcohol (shouldn’t you not clean wounds with alcohol? Trusted the doctors orders anyway as a ftm and did research after everything that you SHOULD NOT clean it with alcohol). Ended up getting really infected to the point where he cried every time he peed and needed to go on antibiotics because it was so swollen the plastibell wouldn’t fall off. He also said to not put Vaseline on the front of the diaper when I read everywhere that you should to prevent the wound sticking, instead he prescribed some crazy cream to use. Thank goodness everything seems okay and functional…..for now🤞🏻…..however I’m still trying to process this trauma of hurting my boy and I’d highly recommend researching for a different circumcision doctor. They removed his name off their website, not sure if he still works here. I’m going to try to find his name and include it in this review when I do.

This maternity clinic is great the receptionists are always very friendly and all the doctors I have seen are personable and knowledgeable and take the time to answer questions. I do however have an issue with how often late they are, in my 2 pregnancies I have waited almost an hour to see the doctor on several occasions.
I understand that by taking the time to answer all the questions asked by many patients in a day will cause delays.. but in reading others reviews I am not the only one that has had this issue, possibly they need to add some more time allotment a couple of times a day so the patients that arrive on time are not wasting their time.

South maternity took excellent care of me during my pregnancy. Not only were the doctors amazing but the front staff are extremely lovely too. My birth experience in south health was lovely and something I’ll never forget. Thank you too all the staff that made my journey so beautiful!

Such a kind and caring staff. I have never had a bad experience with this clinic. The wait times are a bit longer but it's understandable due to covid-19(they have to clean and prepare the rooms after each patient and can't have as many people in the clinic as normal). All the doctors and nurses are so sweet and really take the time to listen to any concerns or questions I had. The front desk is always helpful and I loved the fact that I could call in for even the smallest concerns or questions and they happily answered them all. Thank you for making my visits enjoyable and stress free!

Amazing experience! I was in my third trimester and my maternity clinic stopped returning my calls because they got “too busy”. I heard this was a great maternity clinic and decided to see if I could come here instead, I was panicked and praying they would accept me as I was very close to going into labour. Thankfully, they accepted me! I received incredible prenatal care here. The nurses and doctors are wonderful people and all made me feel safe and comfortable, they’re patient and caring. I never once felt rushed or unheard, I felt understood and grateful
I was here. I can’t say enough good things about this clinic, everyone here is lovely and great at what they do. I loved every second spent here! If I become pregnant again I am 100% coming back here, nowhere else and no one else I’d rather have a baby with.

Dr. Brandon is by far one of the best doctors I have ever seen. She takes the time to care, is thoughtful, genuine and runs on time. I was luckily enough to get my schedule to coincide with the days she was working and had that consistency throughout my second pregnancy. I was fortunate to even have her delivery my baby, which elievated alot of anxiety. Thank you for your care and professionalism.
