As we walked in the hospital it was absolutely disgusting. Do they not clean? Once we checked in and called us into their little room. This lady which I will provide a picture. Was so unprofessional. The guy in there was also so unprofessional. I’m wondering if they just higher people with no experience. You think, if your going to a hospital your going to get treated but they start making jokes about how our pain isn’t bad. I don’t understand why they would try to compare to themselves to someone who is probably 20 YEARS younger. Obviously we are going to look better because we are barely 20. I rather suffer in pain then ever return there!

Went in for an emergency placenta removal following homebirth. The drs and nurses in both the ER and Labor/Delivery were amazing. However, hospital administration will gouge you if they can. I got an operating room charge, never went to the operating room and their internal review indicated that the charges were "accurate". I had four different calls with the billing dept. One call resulted in no follow up even when I asked for a call back because I was at work and also waiting for another medical call. When they finally did call back, it was to tell me that my bill had gone to collections and that I had no recourse regarding financial assistance. To add insult to injury, St. Charles requires the collector to include the note seen in the picture, but again, you can't request assistance after it's sent to collections, so St. Charles is essentially lying.

Moral of the story, ask about assistance right away. They won't tell you that you're disqualified from financial assistance until the bill is off to the collector. Additionally, the hospital prohibits their debt collector from settling, so there's no way to negotiate with the collector either.

It saddens me to write a review like this because St. Charles is the only facility for the communities in central Oregon. They should have never been allowed to purchase all of the hospitals and clinics in the area. They clearly have a monopoly!
I think we should make this clear before I begin, medical personnel are always the smartest people in the room, just ask them.
My dad had fallen and was admitted to St. Charles Redmond. He suffers from Dementia, Parkinson, has high and low blood pressure along with a pacemaker. ER doctor was great !
After being in the hospital about a week and a half and experiencing a number of various heart problems, and major confusion issues, worse than normal, the case manager showed up to inform the family that they had decided that my dad needed physical therapy at a different facility. Even though he had been receiving it at the Redmond facility, but apparently could not stay there any longer. The case manager (CM) sold us on the idea that the St. Charles Madras facility would be the best place for him to receive this treatment. We were told he would be there for a minimum of 20 days. It was not til later that I became aware that they had already informed my dad that he would be moving to a different facility. Remember he suffers from Dementia. A week later the case manager showed up in the room and informed my mother that my dad would be moved to Madras for PT the next day. At this point he was considered a Fall Risk and was unable to walk on his own. Against the families wishes they moved my father to Madras on 11/28/24. On the 29th he received a PT assessment. On 12/1/24 my mother received a call from a case manager- Teresa/Madras. She informed my mom that my dad had progressed and would be discharged on 12/6/24. Again, the family expressed concerns with releasing him on Dec. 6th. We questioned how it was a 88 yr. old man who could not stand, or walk on his own 3 days earlier could recover after 1 PT session and be ready to return home. I had a conversation with CM -Suzie the following day. I questioned why it was so urgent to have moved my dad on Thanksgiving instead of leaving him at Redmond, where he was already receiving PT. Finally, she informed me that someone at Redmond changed his status and he could no longer receive in patient care per Medicare so he had to be moved. When I pressed her on how he could have recovered after 1 PT session she informed me that he actually had 2 (like that would make a difference) because he had an assessment on the 29th, and he has to move his limbs during the assessment. It was almost like talking to a used car salesman. An assessment is not the same as a PT session, but she was insistent that it was the same. As I read through the MY Chart notes I realized that a one of the Therapist had once again discussed with my dad his discharge plan. Once again, this is a Dementia patient. After his discharge I realized that not only did they discuss treatment plans with him, but they had my dad sign numerous documents during his stay.
We received 3 different calls from CM to make sure someone would be there to pick him up on 12/6/24. That was the same number of calls we received from the doctors over a 13 day hospital stay to discuss his medical issues.
They claim the family missed a "care giver training meeting". I am not sure who they told about the meeting, but it was not the family, probably the Dementia patient, and he forgot to tell the family. So as of now, my dad is home with my 89 yr old mother who is attempting to care for him, a long with intermittent help from other family members. Oh and guess what? He fell down again today and could not get up. Wonder how that is possible with the great PT he received at St. Charles Madras. Seems like St. Charles squeezed every Medicare dollar out of this stay !

Thank for everything you do. This is the third time my mom has been to the ER here at St. Charles Bend. She has received excellent care from the whole staff! Nobody likes going to the hospital and each of you do it on a daily basis to help people like my mom. I am sorry so many people do not recognize the immense strain the entire medical system has been under for the last 4 years. I see a functional, beautifully clean hospital staffed with caring, competent humans doing a great job under the circumstances. Please keep up the good work. My mom wouldn't be with us without the work you do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Went in to ER for appendicitis. Everyone I encountered, from the front check in, to the surgeon, was so very kind. They definitely made a painful experience a little bit more pleasant. I felt the level of care I received was excellent. Thank you for all your kindness!

Last night, I had an unexpectedly pleasant experience at the ER, which is quite rare. No one wants to visit the ER, especially St. Charles, and that's exactly how I felt driving from La Pine. I was thinking, "Nope, not doing this," but when you see blood in your stool, you swallow your pride and head to the damn ER. Throughout the drive, I kept hoping it wouldn't be too crowded.

We arrived at 9:30pm, checked in, and Julie, who checked me in, was incredibly kind. Surprisingly, there weren't many people waiting. I was called for intake within 5 minutes and into a room in another 10.

Natalie, my nurse, was the sweetest and most caring nurse I've encountered at St. Charles. She reassured me I was in the right place given my symptoms, which eased my mind about coming. She made sure I was comfortable and well looked after.

Dr. Nate was not only attentive, informative, and caring, but he also had a great sense of humor that kept my mom and me smiling and laughing. I felt genuinely cared for and confident in his hands.

We left the ER by midnight, which I believe is a record for my shortest ER visit. From start to finish, I felt genuinely cared for—an overall great experience, especially considering their reputation.

If I could rate Julie, Natalie, and Dr. Nate five stars each, I would! They were amazing and truly made a difference in my experience. I went home satisfied, knowing my condition wasn't serious.

I had surgery for Myopia, and the team that treated me were excellent. the RNs, Tami, Chad and Tanner were excellent, and Julie chatted with me so I wasn't nervous. Very much appreciated. My anesthetist, Dr Wiklinson called on a Sunday before surgery to discuss the process. I have had bad reactions before, and I had no side effects with him. Dr. John Davis did a fantastic job straightening my eyes. A very satisfying surgery.

I was a patient Friday evening 8/16 ,and have nothing but praise for the check in staff ,triage nurse , Joshua RN , CT staff and the attending Doctor . I took a face plant into a driveway courtesy of being knocked off my feet by my dog . They saw me quickly and evaluated my situation and my options and after 2-3 hours was released to go home and recover although looking much rougher than earlier in the day . that being said this is the best ER experience I have ever had .
