Avoid for post op wound care!!!
I had been attending this facility for a few months after my surgery in August. I had a few major issues with the care I had received. During one of my first visits, I had a male nurse remove my drains, he did not remove the suction when removing which caused extreme pain during the removal. He did not stop to check to see if I was okay even though I was crying. This nurse had no beside manner and made me feel extremely uncomfortable, especially in my exposed state. I brought this concern forward to the management team and they assured me I would never have him again. Fast forward to my last appointment when I attended the office for my appointment, I was scheduled with him. I advised the receptionist that I would not be seeing him and she apologized to him because I refused service. She didn’t apologize to me for the mistake and told me I needed to come back at a later date.
The second major thing that happened was towards the end of September during 4 separate appointments I was going every other day for bandage changes. I expressed concern about an infection. I was advised that what I was experiencing was NORMAL and that I only met 2/3 criteria for an infection. I was advised that because I did not see redness all over my body, it was not infected. I went to my family doctor where they confirmed that it was infected and I was instructed to go to the ER. The doctor at the ER took swabs and confirmed that I did have an infection and was referred back to my plastic surgeon. My plastic surgeon again confirmed the infection and I had to have reconstruction surgery to remove the infected tissue. My recovery was suppose to be 6 weeks max, however due to complications the recovery was over 10 weeks long. The inability to diagnose an infection prolonged my recovery by 5 weeks and left me with a terrible scar. This was all completely avoidable and could have resulted in a much more devastating outcome had I not gone to my family doctor. Very disappointing.

I had been in a car accident about 2months ago and had been referred to the VON because I had open wounds on the front of both legs, and they could become dangerous due to some underlying health issues. All the staff, starting with the front desk, were friendly and very accommodating. They were courteous and followed medical procedures down to a T. They were very helpful answering my questions, assisting me with putting medical wraps/stockings back on, and gave me some great ideas that could possibly help me in the future. My heartfelt thanks to each and everyone that has assisted me. 👏👏🤗

I was scheduled through CCAC after my surgery to attend the VON clinic for post-operative intervention/ care. The appointment booking was seamless and contact from them was timely and informative. The location was convenient with good parking. The clinic itself; the treatment rooms, amenities and service was excellent. My nurse, Megan was knowledgable, proficient, pleasant and supportive. Her skills and technique was spot on. A great experience from a lovely professional. As a nurse for over 30 years myself, I am happy to have received this excellent care from a wonderful nurse and the staff at this VON location in Brantford ON. It made the experience a very good one.

My husband lost his leg at the knee last year.He had a von come in every two days to change the bandages and assess the wound.In June of this year I lost my husband because the infection in his leg was so bad it caused sepsis. Because of the incompetent care he received from the von nurses I no longer have a husband,our kids no longer have a father and our grandchildren are growing up without a grandfather.The nurse should be ashamed of herself.

Nurse Patty talked me through my injury and explained step by step her treatment process.

They wont come to the house. We had to cancel an apt. Because my bf is in so much discomfort we cant get to there office. Never mind walking down the stairs or ramp.. Cathader Is making him bleed. Now they rescheduled for a day after his apt at the hospital. We need them today not Tuesday. Does anyone know of a company that will come to the house. I'm at the point of maybe calling an ambulances to help.

I found von to be unpredictable. They missed some appointment times and dressing on my wound fell off alot. Doing my own dressings now. I did not like the care. 6 weeks later I still have a big wound. Poor communication!!!!
