Went to St.Thomas Elgin General Hospital for the Emergency room for the first time and was very impressed with the facilities. I arrived at 8:30pm with a waiting room full of people.. was in the Triage by 9:10pm. X-Rays by 10:15pm. Doctor by 10:45pm. And walking out the door by 11! That was very smooth sailing and wonderful bedside manner by all. I drove from London because I did not want to deal with the long wait times and it was well worth the 25minute drive.

I came to this hospital for a surgery and was admitted overnight, as I live 5 hours away. From the moment I was in the day surgery area with the registering clerk, then with the nurses in day surgery, anesthesiologist, surgeon, and my amazing nurses on the floor taking care of me, it was the best care I could've ever received!! Thank you so much.

I spent 9 hours on Monday in emergency. The wait was long, but the exceptional staff made it bearable. Everyone was friendly, courteous and attentive. One staff member even lent me their charger for my dying phone. The doc was thorough with a battery of tests.

The doctors clearly hate their job. Why be a doctor when you clearly don’t enjoy it. Our system is designed so poorly, why make me wait five and a half hours when you cloud you something like call me when you’re able to get me in to see someone. Not to mention well sitting there, some man’s wife was brought in by ambulance and after two hours over trying to get in to see her. She is still in the hallway waiting for a room(crazy how a hospital that just didn’t expansion is running out of room). She calls her husband from the hallway to get him to get a doctor because she ran out of oxygen!! In her tank and the doctors were ignoring her. Then the front desk lady completely disregards what he has to say. Just to say there’s doctors helping her. Why is she having to call her husband who’s in the waiting room for help. Seriously disgusting.

I have been brought to stegh by ambulance 3 times in the last few months due to seizures I was experiencing out of nowhere. Every time I have been in the emergency room, all the staff have been absolutely amazing. I have not had a single grumpy, unpleasant or unconcerned staff member. Every nurse who has taken blood was great and found veins the first time. All the doctors I have experienced were helpful and knowledgeable. My last trip was at 1am and my doctor was so helpful and concerned as to how I hadnt been contacted for an EEG (from another hospital) and put in an urgent request to my neurologist. Dr Umanah, who I was sent to for my epilepsy diagnosis was also great and knowledgeable. I was prescribed meds and I now will be working with her further. I went for both a CT scan and an MRI and all the staff were great and comforting. I hear a lot of negative things about the staff at STEGH, but every experience I have had makes me feel like I am being cared for by an excellent group of professionals.

We were in town for a hockey tournament. And this was truly the absolute best experience i have ever had in emergency. Every single staff member was warm, kind, friendly and helpful. Was there maybe an hour and a half in total. So greatful to everyone there.

Came in with a nasty case of strep and a severely high fever that lasted multiple days. I arrived in the emergency room at 11am and I had my blood tested and was hooked up to fluids and antibiotics by like 1:30, and out of the building feeling significantly better by 4pm. The staff at St Thomas Elgin General were fantastic from start to finish, and provided an excellent level of care. Nurse Megan was informative and compassionate and Dr. Amit Shah was very thorough, and explained everything in simple terms that normal people can understand, with excellent bedside manner. Excellent staff, clean building and a very prompt and professional level of care.
