I’ve had my MedicAlert ID for just over a year now. I got it because I live with Type 1 diabetes and have had a couple of scary episodes where I blacked out doing errands or at the gym with low blood sugar and couldn’t communicate properly.
Paramedics were able to confirm my medical info and emergency contacts on the spot. That really stuck with me. The peace of mind it gives me is worth it. My husband also says it helps him worry a little less when I’m out alone.
Not something you ever think you’ll need… until you do.

We ordered a bracelet for my teen daughter who has type 1 diabetes. The website reported one sizing adjustment was included. The bracelet was too large. My husband called to ask about the process of getting an adjustment and the call agent reported that she has the smallest size in that bracelet and we would need to purchase another (expensive) bracelet. My husband asked again can you not remove links, the answer was no. (Makes me think these are not made by medic-alert). He said okay well I guess I will have to pay to have it adjusted and she informed him that would void the warranty. She then proceeded to tell him that they would like to be able to rely on a suggested donation about of $100 as they are a registered charity. (So let’s get this straight, we have a bracelet she can’t wear, we need to buy another, and you want $100). Terrible. We have a membership but I think having a bracelet with her diagnosis, and our phone numbers is all we will do moving forward).

I recently signed up with MedicAlert and wanted to share my awesome experience. Prince helped me figure out exactly what to engrave on my ID—he was super friendly and patient. Thanks for making the whole process way easier and less stressful than expected.

I have recently wanted to renew my subscription with Medic Alert and wanted to buy a bracelet so I called the company asking about products and finally I decided to buy a copper bracelet since gold ones were so expensive. When I received my bracelet I immediately started to wear it however after about 10 days my wrist was all green so I called and asked to change it but it didn’t seem like I was able to get any compensation even if no one told me or warned me about the fact that this would happen. When I originally called the agent offered me a gold pendant for $477 but I had already bought my copper bracelet so I didn’t follow through with the gold bracelet. When I asked the customer about my copper bracelet making my wrist all green I said I can take the gold pendant instead with the current promotion of $100 off if you buy over $300. All over sudden this bracelet was now over $500 and with the discount it would cost me $472 what a joke!!! For sure they jacked the price so I wouldn’t get the full discount of $100 pretending the price of gold fluctuates?!? Really? How come the prices seems to not change on all your products on the site since gold prices fluctuate?!? They asked me to return this piece of junk that made my wrist green which no told me this would happen and not even the product page would mention it Talk about being fraudulent huh? Now I cancelled my subscription I don’t want anything to do with this company anymore. The supervisor (Kim) was supposed to call me back but she didn’t even have the decency to call me back she asked the customer service to call me back. What a coward! Do yourself a huge favour and make sure you do your research before you make the same bad decision I made and you end up regretting it. Now I know why they get 2.5 stars review. Lessons learned!!!

I ordered two bracelets for my Autistic kids a year ago. I was told they are $60 each. But the initial bracelets were free and the fee was for the year of service. I asked if there was a credit card auto renewal. At that time there wasn't one. I was told if I was happy with the service I could renew the following year. Fast forward. My kids hated the bracelets and his them in our house. Thinking it would auto expire, no problem. But then I started getting at least two phone calls a day and multiple emails. Untold one representative that I would try to find them and if they would wear them I'd renew. Fast forward aweek later I answered the second call within 30 minutes on my way to work I re explained the situation and she flat out asked me how long it would take to find the bracelets. Um I don't know I've been looking for months. She then threatened to.send me to collections for my outstanding balance. Seriously What she should have done was offer replacement bracelets since technically I could cancel and sign up again . Worst company ever

I am a lifetime member and am very disillusioned with changes in Medic Alert Foundation over the last few years. As a lifetime member, I now have to pay a fee to update my account information. New members are forced into a subscription model. I recently updated my account after being prompted by Medic Alert in advance of the Feb 2023 system upgrade. The software does not allow you to update your emergency contact information unless you provide contact information for doctor/medical professional. I am one of many Canadians who no longer has a family doctor and has no medical professional to use as my medical emergency contact. I did email Medic Alert to this effect. The response did not address the issue.

Another issue I encountered (about 12-18 months ago) was that they refused to engrave new information on my existing bracelet. I was told that my bracelet was too old. My bracelet is 10Kt gold, the cost to replace is over $1000.

I purchased 2 Medic Alert bracelets in June 2019. Both bracelets were covered under a year warranty. Both bracelets ( a silicone band and a beaded bracelet) broke in February 2020. I’ve called to inquire about replacements 4 times ( the first call in March) each time I’m given a different answer about the return policy. I’ve emailed customer service and received no response. Just got off the phone and was told they won’t repair or replace my bracelets without me renewing my membership (it doesn’t expire until June 21 2020). Why would I pay for a service that I haven’t had since February? I paid for a full year last June and only got 8 months of service and use of product. I was told if I renewed today I could pay $50 instead of $60 for the year and get 2 months free. Seriously? Horrible customer service and poor product quality.
