Hamilton Urban Core amazes me. Vikki really helped me when I needed it most. Today, she used her break to assist me—I didn’t understand how to apply for Legal Aid Ontario or ODSP, and she explained everything step by step. She was kind, patient, and never made me feel bad for asking. Thanks to her, I got the help I needed. I’m truly thankful and touched by her support.

This afternoon, I went to the government office to follow up on my husband’s disability fund and rent support applications, but everything went terribly. Nothing was moving forward, and I felt extremely anxious. In that moment of helplessness, I thought of Vikki and went to find her. Even though she was on her break, she met with me right away through the front desk, even though I didn’t have an appointment. She listened patiently, guided me through the ODSP process, spoke Chinese with me, helped me problem-solve, and even assisted in calling Legal Aid Ontario for interpretation.

She only left when it was time for her next client—never rushed me, never dismissed me. Her support was genuine and heartfelt. In times like these, someone who truly listens and shows up for you makes all the difference. Thank you, Vikki Huang—you were the only person I could turn to. My daughter and I are deeply grateful.

If I could give it zero stars I would. What a horrific place to go. The receptionist is by far the rudest and least helpful person I've met in years, and has the absolute worst attitude ever. And the health community coordinator was even worse, if that's even possible. The place is pretty and looks clean and fancy, but that's it. There is absolutely no humanity inside, just crappy attitudes, disrespectful treatment and discrimination.

The best social worker I have ever consulted in the Hamilton area has been Vikki Huang. During the various appointments as a newcomer to Canada, I received guidance regarding different services available in the area that were of vital importance during my settlement process. Her empathy and professionalism were a crucial help to me. For this reason, I recommend Vikki not only as a social worker but also as an empathetic human being with newcomers.

They started out great, the NP I was working with was incredibly attentive which was a great change from what I've been used to in the past, however I've been trying to get appointments made for certain health concerns and it seems they misplace or lose my referrals. The new doctor I've been assigned has been trying her best but I've been waiting months to see a neurologist about my seizures and been waiting almost as long to get looked at for the rest of my health concerns.

Absolutely ridiculous nightmare trying to work with these people (only help person who has been helpful is Victor).... I tried to get my birth certificate at the beginning of September.... of Last year. Honestly, if you can go somewhere else for help, I would. Don't recommend using them. If you have no other choice, make sure you call them and keep on them. Otherwise, they will just take your money.

UPDATED: I've waited for since September 30, 2021..... I called Alberta today January 3rd, 2023 they haven't received anything on my behalf since 2016.... No actual words

Attention to all whom have a service dog. If you require your service dog and need the help Urban core make sure that you leave them at home. I have a service dog and I am disabled I also require my caregiver with me most of the time. On Wednesday i was told that the staff would deal with me down stairs where the staff continued to make sure that there opinion was heard as did mine. A thought for the staff at urban core. If you are turning away disabled man from getting help, but are willing to help refugees from another country please tell me what this is. I think according to the law it is discrimination but would like the staffs advice on this before I call for a lawyer. Because all I would like is to be treated like a normal Canadian coming from help from my local community outreach center.

Shockingly disgusting "health" center... I've seen run down gas station bathrooms look cleaner. And grime and filth is EVERYWHERE. Lot of desks look like hoarders use them. Super disorganized and filthy, backwater looking place. Went once, made my skin crawl. Not going back there. 2 stars instead of one because at least they were mostly nice.

Went in for some harm reduction supplies to give to youth I work with. The supplies I needed are listed on the website. I was told they have not had them since 2003, despite the fact that there is a recent notice regarding them on the door. Thankfully this isn't a pressing matter and I will be able to acquire some in a different city.
