I cannot say enough good about the care I received as a patient at this hospital . Doctor Hossain is second to none. Her professionalism combined with her caring attitude made an experience which was quite traumatic to me at the time , so much easier to deal with ❤️

The nurses and all the staff on PCU went over and above to make my hospital stay so comfortable. God bless you all ❤️❤️❤️

Amazing care for my husband who fell and dislocated his shoulder. They could see he was in 10/10 pain and took him straight in from triage. Seen by a Dr within 10 minutes and all preparations made for a reduction under sedation. I can't say enough about the caring Nurses (Sam) and the compassionate, knowledgeable Dr. Even the Diagnostic Imaging staff were wonderful. Thankyou St Martha's for outstanding care again!

The PCU unit is awful. My grandmother just got put here from the ICU. She is 83, had pneumonia, sepsis, influenza, heart attack, and just had a pacemaker put in. The ICU was amazing to her, the nurses there were absolutely amazing. But the PCU is terrible, they never check on the patients, they’re horrible caretakers. My grandmother has been sitting here in her own waste for 2 hours now, and we’ve called the nurses 6 times, and went to get them, but still nobody showed up. It’s absolutely horrible how they treat the patients & I can hear them in the hallway laughing & talking as I write this. Absolutely Disgusting. The only reason it’s 2 stars is because the ICU was incredible, if it weren’t for them it would be 0.

Thanks, Dr. Ash Singh, OR nurse Ashley, and all other staff (sorry, I do not know your names). I recently had day surgery, and from the onset to completion, the service was outstanding. It was excellent care.

Terrible experience with my child. Screaming in agony and they purposely took their time checking us in. Ended up being a 15-day stay at the iwk. The initial contact at this hospital and it was like we were an inconvenience trying to find help.

More recently, I have a friend in the hospital, the person on patient services hardly understands english, purposely just keeps the line silent when you're trying to ask a question. If the phone returns to the switchboard it just goes silent and they hang up on you.

WARNING FOR HEAVY CONTENT: when i was 13 went to St Martha’s THREE to times over the span of 13 days for a serious concussion. I waited over 9 hours each time to get told i was faking it twice and told to sleep it off the third. 2-3 weeks after my last visit i was getting significantly worse and I made an appointment with a concussion clinic. Because of the untrained staff I needed physical AND occupational therapy for 13 months to get myself back to normal.If ONE of the doctors had actually done their jobs could have easily recovered within a 1-2 months.
I was forced to go another 2 times when i was 13 because i wqs doing very poorly mentally.
I was going to end my life, my parent found the journal with the notes i planned to leave behind. While at St Martha’s hospital the lovely doctor let me know if i was motivated to “find a way to end it at home” i could “find a way to do it at the hospital aswell”, and sent me home KNOWING i had a plan on how to finish myself. I had to sleep on the floor of my livingroom, wasn’t allowed around sharp objects, medication or in rooms with a closed door for 1-2 weeks because my family was scared of what i would do unsupervised.
That wasnt the only time i went for suicidal thoughts, another time i was forced to go was after hurt myself while at school, when i arrived the triage nurse IN FRONT OF MY FACE said “send them where the crazies go” AND LAUGHED. The woman doing my assessment told me the wounds looked “cosmetic” ,they didnt believe i really meant to hurt myself and the physc ward was already at capacity with people who “really need help”. How do you tell a suicidal 13 year old their scars arent deep enough to be taken seriously
These arent the only times ive gone and had bad experiences as you’ve probably seen from every single review you will always wait at least 6+ hours, staff is super gossipy/judgmental (small town mindsets), occasionally you will get a nice nurse / doctor but they still care more about being quick then doing their job as doctors and being efficient.
friends and family have shared tons of similar stories from St Martha’s and their disgusting experiences. hopefully they smarten up before the next person they send home for “faking something” dies and they get sued. Obviously the mistreatment of patients isnt a “one time mistake”, If you can help it go to ANY hospital but here they dont care about making you better they just want you out of there to make room for the next person they will misstreat.

My wife and I were there yesterday, thought we would go there instead of the New Glasgow Hospital as we were told the wait times are not as bad, well they are just as challenged there.
My wife was suffering extreme back pain, had been progressively getting worse over the course of 4 days to the point of her being in tears. When seen by the Dr she explained that and his comment was, "So why are you here" in a very condescending tone. However that wasn't the worst part, as he looked her over and deduced that it was being caused by tight hamstrings, to prove his medical diagnosis he had her lay on her stomach, grabbed the back of her legs, he then started explaining how hamstrings connect to the back, and while doing so grabbed and clenched both butt cheeks in a very perverse fashion. I and my wife were taken aback by it, and after the Dr left we both questioned his actions in shock and dismay.
Upon leaving he parted us with a "See you later kids!", we are well into our 40's........
