The nurses in the maternity ward were all very friendly, helpful and courteous. Couldn't have asked for a better crew. The-surgical nurses were nice as well. I don't know his name but my surgical nurse was very informative. Explained to me something I did not understand and now I do. Would not hesitate to have surgery at this hospital. Idk about the emergency department but all my nurses were first class.

Today I’ve been to Yarmouth Hospital with an injured knee.
It was my first visit at a hospital in Canada at all. Actually I am surprised by the very many negative reviews I’ve read here. Each and everyone I was in contact with was super nice and caring to me. I was in the emergency department to get an X-ray and also waiting times were absolutely ok.
Thanks to all the staff for taking such good care of me!

I have never seen an out patients department so slow. Or run so poorly, why on a holiday weekend would you only have 1 Dr. working? I understand people are ill, and may need to see the Dr, more quickly than others, but I have sat here 7 hours, and watched them take ppl who have walked in off the street, before those of us that has done " our time "waiting while in pain. Had to ask 3 times for a Tylenol before nurse acknowledged me. Tsk tsk Yarmouth, youneedro do better.

In March 2025, my father went from Shelburne Hospital to Yarmouth Hospital for a scan. He had a mini stroke. He was kept in the emergency department until an ambulance brought him back to Shelburne Hospital.

The Yarmouth Hospital emergency department should be CLOSED!!! It was the most appalling, disgraceful, atrocious and inhumanly place my sister and I have ever experienced in a hospital in our lives. ALL the nurses, from day and night shifts, should NOT be allowed to practice nursing until the entire department is completely overhauled. None of them demonstrated any level of concern, kindness, humanity or compassion. The level of care was COMPLETELY inadequate, incompetent, unacceptable, unforgivable and neglectful. He did not receive even the most basic care in the more than 12 hours he was there. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE HIM THE MEDICATION HE WAS PRESCRIBED TO TAKE (saying they did not have any information regarding him and his medication which was a complete and utter LIE!). He finally received one dose late in the day, but they would NOT give him his next dose, saying the Shelburne Hospital nurses could give it upon his return. Not giving prescribed medication to an 86 year old man suffering from a chronic condition is immoral, unethical and vile!! Asking the nurses any questions or needing help was met with rolling eyes, annoying tones and, a couple times, completely forgetting we asked for something.

I really wish I could give a 0 rating because they do not deserve a rating of 1.

I don't get the hate this hospital get, as someone from outside of Nova-Scotia I've had great experiences with the facility, granted this is speaking from personal experiences but I've seen far much worst in New-Brunswick and even in Florida, the place is not perfect but I would rather be there than my home city's hospital.

Our asshole of a family doctor who could care less of our well being didn't do nothing to help my mental health back home, I've asked for a psychiatrist for 5 years for nothing (which I highly doubt it's that hard to find) only for here in Yarmouth I've waited for about a month, this is something that I can't appreciate enough !

*here's a funny story to show my experience, I've once passed out drunk that a bystander called an ambulance and ended up in this hospital (which I honestly didn't want to go there but I do appreciate the bystander's concerns), I've got woken up in the morning with breakfast ! I can honestly say they wouldn't do that in my home city's hospital 😂

I have an you an intense phobia of needles. The woman who just drew my blood was exceptional. I won't be as fearful next time

The waiting time for this hospital is insanely long, it could take you up to 5 hours which I believe is the reason why less people come and divert to other hospitals instead.

Yarmouth emergency is the worst place I have ever been. The nurses' (at least the ones I had)were quite rude.
There are so few hospitals in this part in the province and when you live halfway between Yarmouth and Kentville, you are in for a long, miserable, expensive ride no matter what. Then, when you finally do get to the hospital, expect to wait half a day only to likely get nothing accomplished.

Staff seems to have very poor communication, one hand doesn't know what the other is doing and they usually just ignore the patients.
