I have been a patient of Dr. Chung, along with my husband and 4 children for over 25 years. I think she is doing a fantastic job. Three years ago, I became a medical receptionist at another clinic with ten family doctors. I read many of the negative reviews here and just wanted to say that when you see what goes on behind the scenes it gives you a whole different perspective. I don't like waiting as much as the next person and some docs are better at managing this than others. But now I see how much time Dr Chung takes with me, when I go in for an appointment, making sure my concerns are addressed. I know exactly how much paper work she will have to do, after I leave, before she can take in the next patient, and later on that evening. Half of a doctor's work is paperwork, done when they are not actually with a patient (for which they are not paid). Prescriptions, referrals, myriads of forms for patients, charting, and reviewing test results all take time. If they are seeing patients more than "part time", they are working 10-14 hr days. It makes me angry that everything has gone up: cost of living and running their office, amount of paperwork they have to do, the amount of patients they take on because of shortages, and amount of short-tempered people they deal with. I've gotten a raise 2x in the last 3 years, but they haven't. Its a wonder any of them are still wanting to practice. I really appreciate the care I am getting, and Dr. Chung for sticking it out in family practice. Thank-you!

I’ve had Dr. Chung since basically my birth. I’m 20 years old. She is an actually good doctor (at least I think, haven’t had a different doctor ever). Sadly it feels as if she doesn’t care about the people she treats just does her job just enough.
She over books her patients all the time causing people to be waiting 2 hours to have a 20 minute conversation with her (today I was lucky enough to get into her room after an hour). It’s always been hard to get in contact with her, sometimes her receptionists answer sometimes they don’t, and voicemails are usually responded a week later. Don’t ever attempt to ask for a phone call appointment because she will tell you “ok I’ll call you between 4-11pm” even though her clinic is closed at like 5pm. Sadly every single one of my phone call appointments I have been the very last caller for her to tackle and would receive her call by 10:50pm. Very lucky that I’m injured and don’t have work or I would have been sleeping by then. Any normal person would.
What really made me very upset was I had gone to do an mri on the 23rd of January for my back which isn’t too bad but very uncomfortable and causes pain. Around the 28th of January they received my results and never relayed the information. Turns out my results weren’t too bad which is good, but because it wasn’t too bad they never told me A month goes by don’t even remember when I called but at the end of February I called and asked. Receptionist said “oh yes we have it right here we received it on the 28th” “28 of February?” “No 28th of January, would you like to book an appointment?” Like it was completely normal to keep me out of the loop on my own health. When I asked Dr Chung why didn’t they let me know it didn’t even seem like she even wanted to answer me. Her reasoning was he didn’t see it the day of and she saw it wasnt too extreme so I didn’t let you know…

If you are looking for a doctor and Dr. Chung is willing to take you in, Fantastic. She’s a good doctor and will take care of you. However, we can’t expect everyone to be perfect and Pickering Family practice is far from perfect.
Sadly with all the complaining I’m doing I can’t do anything about it as there is little to no doctors in the Ontario area and none in my city of Oshawa who can take me in.
You’ll have to have more patience than I do.

God bless..

Dr. Chung has been my sons doctor for 28 years (since birth) and she’s a fantastic doctor. Patient with my son as he has non-verbal autism. She is so kind, gentle and very helpful with him. She genuinely cares about him as her patient. The way she has helped me navigate his autism back when there was little known/help has been amazing. She really is a wonderful doctor. She gets a million stars as a doctor.

However the reception and staff are terrible (except I’ll spell it wrong Minkashee she’s always attentive and kind). My son had a phone consult (we were in a bad car accident) I told them the number for her to call me on (it’s on his file) I tried to call in the morning to verify, no one answered, the doctor called another number left a vm to call back and I tried 27 times no answer. The vm says to leave a vm but isn’t accepting messages. I sent emails unanswered. The male reception is the worst. He’s so rude and unprofessional.

I’ve also had issues with my son needing to do fasting bloodwork and it’s difficult for my son as he likes routine and breakfast. His appointment was for 11:00am and he wasn’t seen until 3:00pm the staff knew he was there only for repeat bloodwork, the blood tech leaves at 3:00 and I wasn’t notified. The male reception was like oh well it’s the doctor. No you should have taken the initiative after us waiting 4 hours with him starving and me begging the male receptionist to let him do the bloodwork while we wait as he was getting visibly upset. The reception couldn’t care less and my son had to starve most of the day. He was like go somewhere else for the bloodwork as he pointed towards the sdm that’s in the plaza.

I have never had a booked appointment that we were seen in a reasonable amount of time. The usual is 1-1.5 hr wait. But this was the longest and being rude to sick patients isn’t necessary.

My sons appt was two days ago I still can’t get through same message to leave vm but you can’t. I’ve tried calling the other extensions and they all have vm working. Worst reception staff ever. My son needs access to his doctor! Unfeeling people should not be in any part of healthcare.

Today is Feb 15/24. I am a long time patient of Dr. Tirmizi. Been going to her since she started her practice many years ago. Although she is a good doctor, her receptionist has got to be the most rude, unprofessional & just down right terrible. Calling to find out if a result came back from the Heart Institute since November of 2023. Dr. Trimizi’s reception says she will call me back. That’s their continuous response and I get no call backs. I ended up going into the Heart Institute myself to hear they faxed results since November & said my doctor should have called me. They faxed it again right in front of me and said please call Your doctor. Obviously something is wrong. Up until this very day, the receptionist continually ignores calls and when she answered she screamed at me asking “do you want an appt!!!”. I recommend that patients go else where as the receptionist does not care about patients. She is not a people person. Read through these reviews and you will see that there are the same complaints in this nature. It’s disgusting behaviour and down right degrading for her to be treating Dr. Trimizi’s patients like this. If I could give this office a ZERO RATING I would.

I went to this clinic for the first time today as I started weezing with what I thought was a chest cold and my regular doctor could not see me for another week. I was there for just over an hour which is the same amount of time I spend at my regular doctor’s office anyway.
Receptionist was very friendly when I arrived and the doctor listened to what I had to say and was very professional with his diagnosis, turns out I have bronchitis and they sent the prescription to my pharmacy as I left.
I would definitely go back to this clinic if the need arises.

I've been a patient of Dr. Chung for 8 years and had recently been in for a visit and had the unfortunate experience of dealing with her new receptionist. This lady had the worst attitude and spoke to me very condescendingly and tried to give me problems because I had a new healthcard number after renewing it. She then began to take patients ahead of me even though I had made an appointment for an hour before and proceeded to completely ignore me even when calling my name to finally go in and see Dr. Chung. This attitude is such a joke especially in healthcare, you are constantly dealing with people who are trying to take their health seriously yet you leave them at the mercy of clowns like these.

I had the absolute best experience at this walk-in. The receptionist was absolutely amazing. The doctor saw us very quickly. Diagnosed my son, wrote an rx and we were on our way. The entire visit (including waiting for the pharmacy to fill the prescription) took less than 30 minutes. We will definitely be back!
