Barrie family medical teaching unit has absolutely been the best thing that’s ever happened to us as far as medical care is concerned. My wife and I were accepted eight years ago in our early retirement. It was a move from another city to the Barrie area and must say we really lucked out.

The only real drawback, which is actually quite minor is having a new resident doctor every two years, but in some ways that’s a good thing because each doctor brings a different level of expertise and personality….we’ve enjoyed all our healthcare needs with a level of extreme professionalism.

Would highly recommend anyone in need of a family physician to apply, uncertain as to the wait time all I can say is we didn’t wait but a few months to get accepted.

I was with Dr. Stewart who was probably the best GP I could have ever asked for. Since taking over, Dr. Fruchter had been great, but be prepared for her to not fill your script for several days. Even if it's one that you require daily, and have been on for many years as part of ongoing treatment.

I’ve been fortunate to have Dr. Matthew Orava as my doctor for quite some time and he’s always been polite, courteous and has listened to all my concerns. I find him thorough and easy to talk to. He offers options, doesn’t dismiss any concerns I may have and provides me with the care I need.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Ekeh and her team. When we moved my father up here from Etobicoke, we had no idea how lucky we were to get in with this office. During appointments, Dr. Ekeh was so patient and attentive and addressed all of my (93 yr old) father's concerns. We then needed to see a specialist but the records we required were down at Trillium and I had absolutely no access to them. 'B' and then Megan spent so much time and effort digging these files up for us and then getting us into the specialist. My dad saw the specialist this week. I honestly don't know what we would have done without all of their help. We are so very appreciative!

Dr Ekeh seems to not care for her patients. I just requested an ultrasound for my concerns about my baby and she denied me to get one because she didn’t feel it was necessary. Don’t get me started on the receptionists… they lie and say something will be done then change their mind and say they can’t do so. They seem to only have one brain cell and have to call back to me to repeat information that was already told to them on the phone that they already confirmed with me. Seems like people need to be retrained here including the doctors.
