I stayed at this shelter for three weeks and unfortunately had a deeply negative experience. As someone who fled an abusive situation, I came here seeking safety, support, and compassion. Instead, I was met with a lack of empathy and professionalism from many of the staff.

I felt judged, unsupported, and discriminated against — particularly as the only visible minority in the shelter during my stay. There were several instances where I was accused of things without any discussion or investigation. The staff appeared poorly trained in trauma-informed care, and many showed little interest in actually helping the women they were meant to support.

This environment contributed significantly to my emotional distress, and I left the shelter earlier than planned because I no longer felt safe or respected. The experience was especially disheartening given the vulnerable state I was in. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario due to what I believe was discriminatory treatment.

I had the unfortunate experience of Being part of a group that I didn't join.
During the time that I spent at this facility The best comparison I can come up with is living in a zoo. Most Counselors hide in their office and are unavailable most times. Zero counseling, security is a joke. Never felt safe.

My children and I stayed here for a few months in 2021. The staff was amazing and very supportive, I felt safe and appreciated the check in’s. I highly suggest utilizing the resources they offer
