I have been shopping online with Mary Maxim for over a year. Many crochet afghan and baby afghan patterns. Love the selection. Love the prices. This time I decided to go pick up my order. It was a lovely 40 Min drive and when I got there, I discovered it is an AMAZING store. Clean, loads of craft items and other things to buy. Staff are so friendly. Worth the Drive!!

Overwhelming to the non-crafter (me), Mary Maxim is an Aladdin's cave of treasures for those in the know. Sewing, knitting, crochet, needlework, and more, MM has the tools and supplies to support novice and expert crafters. Came out for the tent sale with my favourite crocheter(s), and they left with five bulging bags of yarn and supplies for their next projects. Lots of helpful knowledgeable staff!

Unfortunately one star is more than they deserve, but it's necessary to leave a review. I'll start by saying there isn't anything on their site you can't find anywhere else for less. My fault for not searching a little more. If you want a pattern, just buy it directly from the creator and source the material from elsewhere. It's way cheaper to do this! I've never seen a seller with such a hilarious shipping policy - it goes up based on cost of order.

You are completely out of luck if you have a problem. I ordered a pattern kit from them, and when I opened the bag the musty mould smell off the yarn actually made me sneeze. A migraine followed. There was no way I could actually use it. I'll summarize what happened: I emailed them about the defective product, they said to return it and they'd refund the entire order, including shipping. Of course once they recieved it they decided there wasn't anything wrong with it and I must be lying. They offered me a small partial refund (they charged me to return it!), and a credit for when I'd like to buy some more contaminated yarn in the future. I turned the credit down. So if you have any kind of allergy or sensitivity, just be aware they will not help you, and will charge you for the pleasure of the insult.

The whole thing is just bizarre, partially because all I wanted was my $25 back, but they seem really willing to die on this hill. But I've also never had this stanky yarn problem anywhere else before (Michaels, Lovecraft, Wal-Mart, Amazon, even Dollarama!). I hope they use my money to clean up their stock room, and maybe hire some better customer service people ?

Had not been to a tent sale for a while. Lots of wool, needlepoint, crafts in the tent. Found some non craft items I needed as well. Enjoyed the visit.

Big gem in Paris. This store is filled with so many interesting items and has a surplus of your knitting needs. I like to take my daughters to see the craft items. It’s a must visit.

My mom and I traveled here from Mississauga, so about an hour's drive, for the tent sale. Tent sale was a little underwhelming. The prices weren't really any better than what you'd find at Michaels, and for a tent sale I expected more. The Spinrite Factory tent sale deals are much better.

The store itself is nice, lots of neat knick knacks and decor items, decent selection of supplies. The store really caters to knitters and sewers though. The only thing that really caught my eye was the selection of cotton yarn, but it's nothing I couldn't buy online elsewhere.

Lots of regular stuff, not special like it was 15 years ago, so many department store type items with a SMALL craft section, I think Lens Mills has much much more crafting supplies.
