My mother has just moved to St. George (literally 2 days ago) and the reception we received was absolutely wonderful, very impressed with the staff and how accommodating and welcoming everyone was when we arrived and also pleased with all the safety protocols that are currently in place.
My sister and myself left feeling our mother was in the right place & she is in the best care.
As recently as 15 mins ago, I spoke to my Mum, and she is feeling comfortable, safe & well taken care of by the staff.

My Aunt has MS and has been living at St. George Care Community for several years now. St. George Care Community was not her first choice in nursing homes, she was placed there after serious hospital admission.
I am happy to report that my Auntie refused her first choice of nursing homes saying that St. George Care Community is her home and that she feels comfortable there. The nursing staff on the second floor have been wonderful in the support and care my Aunt is given and how they support our family's concerns. I am very thankful for the kind care provided by the second-floor staff, Doctors, Nurses, PSW's and Social Workers at St. George! The Receptionist is always welcoming! The building exterior and rooms look clean and I feel that the maintenance staff is doing a good job dealing with Toronto's issues, eg. routine insect control. I appreciate the kitchen staff and the extra nutritional support given to maintain my Auntie's proper digestion. My Aunt has not had any complaints about her care at St. George. When she first was admitted proper pain control was an issue that was soon corrected. And a room change was made to accommodate the use of her walker. When I ask my Auntie if she can sleep in, if she wants, she always says yes. So it's nice to know the staff at St. George Care Community respect the residents, right to refuse.
I am glad that my dear Aunt was first admitted to the St. George Care Community and that St. George has become her comfortable home. Thank you to all of the staff at St. George Care Community who have brought peace and rest to my dear Aunties' life❣

The staff and nurses on the third floor are amazing. Always helpful, share memories that have happened that I may have missed before my visit. Always make sure that I get an update when I visit and calls.
God bless all of you for what you do for the family members and are loved ones. Ameen! ?

I would never recommend this facility - it was the worst mistake I could have made for my family member and by far my biggest regret. Multiple falls a day. When he was transported to the ER, they also reported intense dehydration, malnutrition and a huge electrolyte imbalance. No solutions/suggestion or prevention measures to reduce falls. Anything I suggest like bedrails or aids is turned down. I simply get a call with a full report of injuries. Since being admitted health has gone downhill. Reduced walking capabilities and inhouse physio refuses to help. Solution is to hire private personal trainers and physio. Director insisted on a medication change recommended by doctor. I did not agree with it based on my own experiences of trying to stop this medication while my family member was in my care. When I disagreed I was told point blank by the director - "if you don't agree with the change you can take home your family member home tonight" I thought this was so rude and disrespectful. I knew stopping this medication would cause a massive problem but I agreed due to these pressure tactics. Within 6 days of the change my family member landed in the ER due to withdrawal symptoms and seizure like symptoms - intense shaking. The withdrawal symptoms were so bad that the doctors ordered multiple CT scans. They thought he was hemorrhaging blood from his brain. They couldn't figure out how in a few days someone could go from talking, eating and being generally aware to not being able to complete the most simple tasks. Also, shaking wasn't a seizure like they thought. It was extreme anxiety and fear of anyone trying to move him. He was essentially traumatized from all the falls that happened at St.George. Also meds are dispensed at the wrong times. Sleeping aids were being given at 4 pm instead of bedtime and they couldn't figure out why during the night he was restless. Also, pneumonia was spreading among the floor. I wasn't notified or told of this. They dispensed rounds of antibiotics and I was not notified. I was only told after the fact randomly during one of my visits. Pneumonia is a huge risk for the elderly and no one bothered to call. The list of things done wrong with care are endless with my uncle. If you can avoid this home, please do - you would be much better off waiting for a better facility. Once they are placed here - they are no longer considered high priority on their first choices.
