tropical expressions is a hidden gem. they have a wide, curated selection of bonsai trees and pots every piece feels intentional and well cared for. we bought two bonsais and received two free with our purchase, which was such a thoughtful bonus.

the space has a clean, minimal, zen energy. the staff were kind, helpful, and created a welcoming vibe. if you’re into plants, design, or just want a peaceful shopping experience, this place is worth the visit.

I was there to pick up a couple bonsai plant pots and ended up spending over an hour in the store.
They apparently have 2 locations, the one on the 25th ave is their main branch and it opens during regular business hour. It has a huge green house and have a good selection of bonsai trees, succulents, cactus and accessories at very competitive price. The staffs are very knowledgeable and friendly, they provide potting service for a small fees ($10). Although they don’t have warranty on plants, they would answer emails daily if there’s any problem with the plant. Highly recommend this place!!!

Bonsai heaven! Everything you need in one stop. Absolutely stunning greenhouse. Heather was extremely helpful, and exceptionally well educated on everything in the store, especially bonsai trees! 100% recommend.

I absolutely love to come here when I want to browse plants as well as talk to some really friendly and super knowledgeable people. The staff is always willing to answer any questions, they give great advice and always have smiles to welcome you.
The items here are more specialty so I don’t plan on being cheap when I come here, but the products are definitely worth what you pay in my opinion.

Wow! Amazing "little" greenhouse! It's just off of the main road nearby, and deceptively large! The place is an absolute wonder to walk through, and though I don't have much experience with comparative prices from other places, pretty much everything seemed reasonably priced, if not downright cheap!

The staff is also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. To the point that they were almost "unwilling" to sell any random plant to me, once I indicated that I intended to have it for years. THEY wanted to make sure of the conditions where I intended to keep the plant, so that they could suggest a range of options that WOULD survive for years in those conditions.

I was blown away by the service, and look forwards to nurturing my new Juniper bonsai for years to come! (Something like $16 for a starter bonsai in a pot? Score!)

There's so many great varieties of pre-bonsai at this nursery. More than I've seen anywhere else. If you're into bonsai you have to check them out, 100% worth the drive from Toronto.

Pros:

- Lots of great varieties, plenty of nursery specimens and fully potted ones too.

- very reasonably priced trees, I've seen lower quality trees being sold at double or triple the price at other nurseries

- very friendly and helpful staff

- great options for bonsai pots and stands, all priced very fairly

Cons:

- I've found some pests on a few trees I got from here, they will need to be quarantined and treated, so be careful with what you're bringing back.

- This greenhouse is very very humid, so the tropical bonsai you bring back may have a hard time adjusting to dry indoor air.

Tldr, pay this place a visit if you like bonsai, you won't be disappointed

Ordered a serissa online and picked up a small juniper while we were there. An amazing selection of plants, pots and accessories. The serissa is my new favourite tree and both are great additions to my collection. The staff were friendly and helpful, the staff member that cashed me out even helped me carry my trees and pots to the car in several cms of snow!

I will definitely visit again despite it taking me an hour to drive here

Learnt about this place from Nigel's YouTube channel. Was planning to come but it's a 2 hr drive for me. Finally, I made the time and it was worth it.
Amazing collection, reasonable prices and surprisingly knowledgeable staff.
Bought lots of bonsai and will be sure to be back.
Learnt that Juniper from here doesn't need winterizing as their plants come from Florida.
