I wish i had read the reviews before my appointment. The wait times are absurd! The staff are attentive but my grievance is not directed totally to them. Cataract surgery is covered by OHIP but I paid for an upgraded lens. The cost for the procedure was $1890. I paid $1490 upfront. On the day of the surgery (June 28) i paid an additional $200. The procedure on my left eye was not successful because the lens that the doctor placed had shifted when it was placed. He confirmed it a few minutes later and asked me to go to the Scarborough clinic the next day. At the Scarborough location he confirmed it again and told me that I would have to go to Toronto Western hospital so that a renowned specialist could redo the surgery. I live in Woodbridge. The next day I was called by the clinic and asked me if I would be able to do the surgery the very next morning. I replied and said yes. An email was sent to me to confirm the surgery. The evening before, I prepared for the surgery. When my wife and I arrived at the hospital which was Canada Day, there was no one there to open the doors. We finally got in as someone was leaving and held the door open for us. We went to the 6th floor and it was empty. We finally found two people waiting outside an office. An eye doctor was there. When he called us in he also confirmed what I already knew!!! I didn't have the surgery and he said that I misunderstood why I was there. I showed him my email. He was perplexed and said that the clinic made a mistake. Two weeks later, I returned to the hospital for the surgery. The surgery was a success. However, they didn't place an upgraded lens that I paid for. I can't recall exactly how many times (4 times) but I returned to the hospital for follow up appointments. Each time I went I had to pay $20 for parking and I had to bring someone with me because they would put eye drops in my eye to dilate the pupil. The person that came with me had to take time off from work.

I had an appointment at the clinic to set up a surgery date for my left eye. The doctor wanted me to go to the hospital in Brampton for a second opinion by a senior doctor. Again I had to bring someone with me. Finally, my surgery was performed at the Brampton hospital by the original doctor and it was perfectly successful. My issue is that i paid for a something that I didn't receive! I was refunded only $600 dollars. Their explanation was that the "advanced eye measurement" was included in the total cost. I shouldn't have to pay for something that was not my fault. Plus all the times I had to go to different locations was very annoying. Also, the misinformation, parking and having someone come with me. I should be given a full refund. Finally, the vision on my right eye is blurry compared to my left eye. I will have to wear glasses after all that I experienced and the price I paid.

My 13-month-old daughter had an appointment at 10:45 a.m., but we weren’t seen until 1:10 p.m. — nearly 2½ hours later. There’s no play area or space for babies, so my daughter became restless, crying, and upset after such a long wait. By the time the doctor finally saw us, she was too frustrated to cooperate for the exam.

What made the experience worse was that Dr. Tran Le and her team showed very little understanding or empathy. They acted as if such a long wait was normal, instead of acknowledging how unreasonable it was — especially for a baby. I actually had to speak up and express my frustration to the staff, or else we likely would have waited even longer with no update. I understand delays can happen, but if the doctor can’t handle the number of patients, she shouldn’t overbook appointments.

I do not recommend this clinic for families with babies — if possible, I wouldn’t even give one star.

Huge eye clinic. Very busy. Our appointment was for 11:30am. We were on time. After 30-40 minutes our name was called, for the first meetup with the assistant, then another 30 minutes later by the doctor. Doctor was very efficient, addressed all our concerns, then sent us to another room, then back to the doctor. They were kind to call back after we left and move our appointment to an earlier date as it was important and the doctor made sure of that. Very satisfied with the service except for the waiting time. Plenty of parking downstairs

What a great experience, from the moment I walked into Uptown. Staff are very polite and helpful, steering you through your appointments, answering all your questions, helping you choose the procedure best suited for you, calling you at home to make sure everything is going well., and reminding you of appointments. The doctors and surgeons are also very gentle and reassuring. For someone who was very hesitant about getting her eyes worked on, I would highly recommend Uptown. My thanks to all the staff and doctors at Uptown Eye Specialists

VERY UNHAPPY!! I have been to this location twice. Both times I had an 8.30am appointment. Both times, I was left to sit in the waiting room for ONE FULL HOUR before I was even seen by anyone.

How can a clinic already be running late for the first or second appointment? No apology. No explanation.

What an outrageous disregard for a patient's time.

Doctors and staff are so knowledgeable, professional and caring. The entire process from start to finish has only been positive. The vision outcome is fantastic. The laser surgery and lens implants are simply the best! No more halo around lights. Highly recommend this place.

If i could give it a zero i would. For 3 straight days I have been trying to call to change an appointment. I have called in the mornings, afternoons and just before closing and I haven't been able to get through. You can't leave a message either. I also have emailed twice and still no response even though they say someone should respond within 2- 3 days. Well the 3 days are up! Disgraceful! I have never encountered such incompetence!
I need a response back asap!

I had some difficulty and delayed getting the change to my original lens option approved.
The personal were professional, polite and showed patience towards the customers.
My surgeon was professional, experienced, pleasant and to the point.
The reading portion of my bifocals lenses could be better and I give it up to 92% efficiency.
For over all my experience with Uptown Eye Specialists I would give them 4.5 Stars from 5.0. Thank you.
