I visited for vaccines for my holiday to the Dominican Republic and the entire process, from booking online to the confirmation call and the actual appointment, was seamless. The receptionist and nurse were incredibly kind and friendly. I received records of the vaccines I got and a lot of information at the appointment and further reading material about where I was going. I noticed negative reviews on here and think it's important to note that this is not a general walk-in clinic. You need to book an appointment in advance. Overall, 5/5 I will come back for any future trips overseas 🙂

I went to the Kingston clinic today for travel vaccines and prepping for Cuba. The nurse I talked to was wonderful she made me aware of all diseases and illnesses I could come in contact with. I usually faint when getting needles and she made it a great experience, she was calm and talked me through everything. and you can book online! Would strongly recommend going to the kingston clinic for any travel health needs!

(NOTE: This negative interaction was limited to one nurse. One of the other nurses, Julie, is amazing, the reception staff were incredibly helpful, the doctor who works there was extremely understanding and apologetic, but we will not be using this travel clinic again.)

I was misinformed about the potential risk of Zika in the country I traveled to. Here is what happened:

I had a consultation in May for our trip. My husband and I were concerned about Zika, so I specifically asked about the risk and explained that we were hoping to get pregnant immediately after the trip.

We were told there was negligible risk. We were not told that it would affect our plans (again, I specifically said that we would be trying immediately after and was not warned otherwise).

When I got back from the trip, my family doctor called me, knowing of my plans, and said, "By the way, you were in a Zika-risk country so even though it's low-risk, you shouldn't try to get pregnant for a few months."

I called the QTHC since I had not heard this information before. I told them what my doctor said, and asked them why I was getting different information now, since I was really quite scared.

The nurse told me she had given me the proper information and obviously I should postpone pregnancy. Overall, through our conversation she was incredibly inappropriate, implying I was stupid and simply didn't understand. She was belittling and condescending, and I was shocked at the lack of compassion in the way she spoke to me.

I said that she hadn't told me that during the consult.

She said "if you read the pamphlet all the information is there." I left that call feeling, honestly, bullied.

Then I re-read the pamphlet. And there is absolutely NO mention whatsoever of having to wait for a few months after travelling, which the nurse said was "obvious". All the pamphlet says is that pregnant women should use bug spray and some travel health organizations recommend pregnant women don't go to Kenya.

Let me be clear: there was absolutely no way that I could have known that I would not be cleared to try to have a baby for months after our trip. But somehow, according to the nurse at the QTHC, it's my fault for not knowing the facts.

If I had been given complete information, my husband and I may not have gone on the trip. We made travel plans based on incomplete knowledge provided by the QTHC, and when I asked for an explanation I was treated incredibly poorly by the nurse over the phone.

My husband and I will not be using the QTHC for any health consultation services in the future. For receiving vaccinations you already know you need, they are a good service. But I will not trust them again to give accurate travel health advice because I can't be guaranteed which nurse I will get or if they will give me the whole picture before I leave.

Was sent home to fill out form for an appointment, when they have them there. Wasted two hours because of receptionist not saying, we have forms here. Very disappointed in the lack of service. Recommend going anywhere else...
