I called this number tonight despite reading the reviews, as a mother with a hard to handle child I was given a number to what they called a safe house for kids my sons age. When I called the number I was informed only a social worker can call to have a child placed. They say they are there to help but all the woman on the other side
Made me feel was like a failing parent! I already feel defeated and she made it worse, this line definitely doesn’t help unless you are looking to give up legal rights to your child. Who ever you were I talked to I think you need more training on helping rather then placing blame

If they are 4 year bachelor degree social worker you would think they could help more, they always say they dont lnow, I have felt dismissed. Feeling like i didnt know who to talk to or end my life I was left feeling like again i didnt have anyone to talk to or help me. These people are very bored instead of being there to help

I found calling them to be very helpful at organizing the rapid, incoherent thoughts I have, when my mental health is failing me. I highly recommend giving them a call when you just need someone to listen, and offer advice. It sounds so simple, but at a moment of need it’s one of the most valuable things you can receive.
The last time I called the the saint on the other side stayed on the line with me for 35 minutes.

Absolutely useless. When I call with a problem they don’t really listen to me. They tell me I’m an adult and this is part of dealing with things. I have ZERO friends or support in the area, no money for food, no money for the medication that the government won’t cover and talking to them just makes me feel more overwhelmed and like I’m worse off than when I called. I tried to reach out because I’m having some pretty dark thoughts about my situation. The person speaking to me did not seem to care whatsoever and has made me feel even more hopeless and has put me in a worse mental state than when I called.

Was told by one of them a couple years back to look into Medical Assistance in Dying. Yes, that's right - while suicidal and talking to essentially our suicide helpline, I was told to find a way to kill myself.

Wastes your time. Makes you feel worse.
For medical or mental health /addiction / unalive you’re better calling 811. If you’re <26 you’re better off calling white buffalo.

Absolute waste of time. Very prying into trying get your full name. Very doubtful of your situation when you confide in them and clearly could not care less. She was doing a countdown as in saying WE HAVE BEEN TALKING 10 MUNTES NOW. They allow you 15 min. All in all UTTERLY USELESS UNEDUCATED UNCARING VOICE ON THE OTHER END. If someone was dying, they would be too bored to help. Eating during the call too!

First off my girlfriend tried calling in 3 times while having an episode in attempt to get help. No answer. She told me that she tried and got no answer... I called them and asked why they wouldn’t be able to answer any of her 3 phone calls and she condescendingly responded with “well maybe you should have called in for her” instead of attempting at either answering my question OR de-escalate my crisis. Don’t call these people for help. They haven’t made it to 2020 yet..
