Avis

We adopted our new addition to the family from here, an 8-year old Siberian Husky with some age-related health issues. Her bio described she was sweet, and she really is a white/cinnamon sweetie, so we called her Sakari, which is Inuit for sweet. At first we thought it was going to be a trek to get there with the ferry from Comox, but the terminals in both harbors are smaller and more efficient, so it was easy. The paperwork to adopt took only 10 minutes or so.

I adopted an adorable new male cat from the Powell River SPCA. The staff and volunteers are so wonderfully caring, professional and truly care about all the creatures in their care. My pet was first fosted by me at home prior to adoption and the staff provided fantastic communication and made picking up medication or providing a health updates was meticulously handled. They really are a dedicated group of staff and volunteers that work 7 days a week there to find caring home for those in need. Keep up the great work 👍🏽

I have 2 fur babies from Powell River SPCA and couldn’t be happier with the care and support I received. The staff go above and beyond to find loving and qualified homes.
There often is more to the story if people are disgruntled. Ferry reservations are $20 not hundreds of dollars.

We couldn't be more happy with the staff at the SPCA in Powell River. We went in to look at a kitten that matched our preference and ended up with the kitten and her mom. Staff were very friendly and super helpful.

A very well run shelter run by caring folks. The facility is clean and the staff is helpful. The best place to find a new furry friend and a great place to donate to an awesome cause.
I thank you guys and so does my little rescue kitty Dixi

Powell River BCSPAC
We get a call from Meagan and she let's us know that we have been accepted as new parents of a beautiful puppy named " Bunny " .. So we start making arrangements to book a hotel for the night and also ferry rides as we are coming from Chilliwack " BOTH NON-REFUNABLE " .. Because this was last minute and everyone is booked solid. So the next morning we go buy a new kennel and dog toys and other must haves, for our new arrival. Then we find out she is already gone and they made a mistake .... So now I'm out of pocket hundreds of dollars, and all they can say is " o well sorry " ... This might just be the biggest bunch of c^&#$@ !! EVER !! ... Now my kids are heart broken and we are so turned off by this organization ... No wonder people pay breeders directly, and don't adopt animals ... This is so unacceptable on so many different levels ...
I would have given a ZERO stars but that is not an option. I highly highly highly recommend you do not deal with Powell River BCSPCA .. If you guys can't even get it together on your end, how are you caring for these animals ... Sad .. I pray the animals are not treated the same as my family was.....

I lost my cat at the age of 22yrs.went to Powell River SPCA and adopted a kitten that was still foster care, I wanted 1 that didn't remind me of my other one,SPCA called foster home and found the one I wanted n it would be 2 week before they came in.I called everyday, when they did come in I was told 1 more week cause they need check-up come Wednesday at noon. So my husband took ferry to Powell River SPCA only to find out that they let the kittens go on Friday and the one I had picked was gone and all that was left was a black male n one runt that was same breed of the 1 I had just lost, and husband told me she was a short hair and doesn't look like the one I had,so I took her. Disappointed that SPCA knew and the calls I made waiting for the 1 I wanted, then I got nothing that came with her.The SPCA in Sceshelt my mom adopted 2 she got food toys blanket and cardboard beds. My friend did work there but quit beforehand, cause she said the good animals r giving to employee's friend and that SPCA was a good 1. I will never go and advise my friends not to adopt from Powell River,to go-to Schelet SPCA Which is the best on the sunshine coast. At least you get the right animals to adopt. N 2020 she died 4yrs old and was going to adopt since new Manger n staff and no success, specially when the Manger said she would take care of me when I wanted another 1, 3 months calling,n Manger never replied n left multiple messages, not 1 word. Now will never go there ever again in my life

If I could give zero reviews I would. There were 2 complaints with animal neglect with dogs eating garbage and not enough water during the heat wave. They saw a pictures of the dogs from an owner even though I told the person from the abuse hotline that the owners would hide the abuse. Now the dog is dead because no one properly interviend back in the summer. As it stands I will never give the spca my money or adopt animals from them.
