Valleyview Treatment Centre - Renseignements importants

This Clinic has a unique system for walk-in patients. You arrive before opening lining up outside. Upon entrance you are given a number, you will be helped in order.
The nurse will call you up to the desk (have your health care card ready) to state your issues that need to be attended to.
You will then sit down and wait to be called by the doctor.

Very efficient system. They only have so many walk in appointments per day so arrive early.

There is a coffee shop and a pharmacy right next door to take care of you while you wait and fulfill your prescriptions.

Was just on hold since 330 today and they just disconnected me. I was the first in queue for almost 20 minutes.
They need a different phone system. This is absolutely getting ridiculous. I had stitches removed this morning and then left the clinic and started to bleed so I need to talk to my doctor and then they just disconnect

Feeling frustrated? You’re not alone.

I drive from Nanaimo just to try to see a doctor at Valleyview.
The truth? There aren’t enough doctors—or hours—to see everyone.

I don’t believe the staff are rude.
I believe it would be accurate to say they’re tired—and also frustrated.
Many work 10-hour days, skip lunch, and still get yelled at for things they can’t control.

All they can do is validate your frustration—by listening with empathy, offering what limited options might exist, and apologizing even when it’s not their fault. That’s the extent of their power in an overwhelmed system.

Google “doctor shortage Vancouver Island.”
This isn’t their fault.

Awful experience here. Had to miss a whole day of work just to get my form signed. Had to line up for 40 mins outside in the cold just to go in and get my appointment time, which the front desk lady decided it should be closer to the end of the day. If I had been able to go in right away I could’ve had a half day at work. Waited for almost an hour once I arrived for my appointment and it took the dr all of 20 seconds to sign my sheet. This could’ve been done early on in the day to save myself an incredibly long wait. Really sad that there are no other options and that I had to do it this way. There is just a major absence of actual WALK IN clinics around here and obviously the virtual/telehealth ones can’t sign my papers. Like, I need this for employment….. it’s kind of important.

Super positive experience every time ive gone. Ive seen piles of negative reviews so i wanted to wait until ive been 5 or 6 times to be sure.

I assume the bad reviews were from when the clinic had different employees or prior to a restructuring. Either way, ive had consistently friendly and fast service.

Most recently, i came on for a referral to some testing that usually takes a year or more of waiting for specialists down in victoria. Lucky me, they had a dr on site who was certified to do so and i was scheduled, tested and prescribed the proper medications within the same day, which was far beyond my greatest expectations.

The only negative, which is the case for every clinic ive ever been to on the island so im not deducting a star, is that you have to be at the door an hour before openin to get a walk in spot. A lot of older folks around cobble hill who im sure are early risers so it can be a bit competitive haha. As long as you show up with that in mind, ive never had a single negative experience here.

Very happy all around

The office staff is improving a lot. The Drs have always been good, with the exception of the creepy female doctor who fortunately no longer works there.

Absolutely a terrible clinic, not because of the doctors but more due to their office staff. Quite possibly the rudest MOA’s I’ve ever encountered and the office manager (Jamie) is the worst offender, demands to control everything. Having no doctor is better than using this clinic, avoid, go to the hospital and wait cause they are going to make you wait no matter what.

Truly appreciate all the staff at this clinic. Not having a GP anymore was initially scary and daunting. Going to Valleyview as a walk-in has been wonderful. Caring and so respectful. I no longer feel my personal health care has been abandoned.
