Last Wednesday I drove my friend to the ER with a severe pain in her leg. She is a visitor with international health care who paid over $1300 to get help. This is totally fine as she doesn’t live here nor pay her taxes in Canada. The nurses there, around 2pm were super rude and not empathetic at all. On top of that, the doctor saw three patients with less urgent needs (they walked into the ER) and arrived after we did, and we were just kept waiting and my friend couldn’t move or walk. I inquired the nurses who told me that they had checked in before my friend, which was a total lie as I asked one of these patients what time they had checked in. It seemed racism to me. Also the waiting room does not provide a bed. My friend couldn’t stand nor sit down. I asked for a bed as I knew she would wait a lot. The nurses simply say: No, we don’t have a bed. Then they just turn around and leave showing no empathy.

I had to go in for emergency back surgery last week. From start to finish, I was treated with care and respect. I was scared of the surgery but all the staff were kind and supportive. Shout out to the Neuro ward, radiology, MRI and ED ward! First class staff all the way. With all my heart, thank you. ❤️

The worst emergency experience I had in the Lower Mainland.

The front desk nurses are rude, unprofessional and unethical.

1) They are constantly making jokes at each other and laughing out loud. Don't care for patients.

2) When I asked some information about my family, who is the patient, they were hostile and unwilling to share the information.

3) The intake nurse asked questions to my family (we are east Asian) like the patient was a prisoner. She was caring and friendly to the elderly white couple just across from us. I understand the job of being a nurse is tough, but this is racist and unethical.

On another note, Dr.Wong in the emergency room was good though. He was attentive and intelligent. He listened to our story carefully and directed us to the right test to find the issue.

Overall, Dr.Wong was good, but I am worried that vulnerable patients are in hands of some unethical nurses. I know not all nurses are the same, but they should really audit their staff and give them ethical training if needed.

Yesterday I went to the ER, it was busy and took 3+ hours to start most of the tests I needed 2:30 through 8pm. Everyone was kind and doing the best they could. I was admitted overnight and once they could (1am), they moved me to a private room in the maternity ward (not for pregnancy). All were incredibly caring, the food was good, it felt clean in the room, and I was kept very comfortable. Thank you to all who work here and clearly care so much.

1st class care! Came in as an emergency, saw Dr & had blood work completed within 25 minutes. 6 days later going home, healthy, happy and grateful for their amazing kind & patient staff, from the housekeeping, porters, auxiliaries, nurses, Drs and specialists. Excellent care, thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

They made me wait in ER for 5 hours . Then , they only have one doctor makes me wait for another hour . I went at the reception and ask how long and there are like one more patient ahead of you . Then i was feeling super confined and I couldn’t sit there no longer I was losing my mind in that condition. So I left , with my medical situation. I had to in few hours have to go another hospital. There was a risk of seizure in my case . But they didn’t really care . I don’t know why in Canada they taxed us a lot for this horrible insensitive medical servicessz

You need to get your priorities in check. I took my 3 month old in tonight with food poisoning as she had a bad batch of formula and after I phone 811 who advised I take her in due to potential dehydration. They all gave me attitude upon check saying oh 811 always says to go to the hospital even if it’s not an emergency. Indicating mine isn’t an emergency. Yes it is she’s 3 months old for goodness sake. And on top of that once we were admitted one of the nurses in the back was extremely rude when I simply asked how long it would be to be seen as she’s 3 months old. He said sorry can’t help you. I said you can’t give me an eta she’s 3 months old he said nope you can sit and wait like the rest of the patients. Absolutely unacceptable, a 3 month old with potential food poisoning should be rushed in immediately. Hell a baby under 1 should be rushed in immediately! I won’t even begin to get started on the infection i got from the maternity ward after I gave birth in December that’s for another day. Do better LGH.

I just had my first LEEP procedure with Dr. Sadeghi, and it was a very positive experience. She was calm, patient, and the entire procedure was painless and over in ten minutes. Thank you to you and your team!

Also a separate thank you to the ER staff, and Dr. Brown and his team who removed my gallbladder last year. Everyone was kind and explained the process in great detail, the surgery was quick and very well done. I am very lucky to have been treated here and a big shout out to all the hard working staff at LGH.
