I’ve been a loyal Costco member for over 10 years, shopping weekly and visiting stores across the U.S. and Canada—from Newfoundland to Saskatoon, Alberta, Toronto, and Vancouver. I first received my membership in Canada in 2015, and since 2017, I’ve been using a valid international card issued in South Korea. I’ve never had any issues using it—until I visited the Langford, BC location on July 9th, 2025.

At the gas station, a staff member told me my card was expired because it said “Since 2017.” I explained that this simply indicates the year my membership began, and that my card is active and valid internationally. Unfortunately, the employee didn’t listen, dismissed my explanation, and even spoke about it to another staff member in front of me in a way that felt disrespectful.

This isn’t the first time I’ve felt misunderstood or unwelcome at this location. As someone who shops at Costco locations around the world, I expected better. I hope Costco provides better training to staff on how to recognize and respectfully handle international membership cards—especially at the gas station, where interactions are brief but impactful.

A little professionalism and understanding would go a long way.

If you have a big tank or need Premium fuel, this is the place to be.
Saturday afternoon may not be the best time to go because it is so busy, but sometimes there's this awesome guy out there directing the lines to help out. Learn to go in the quieter times, and you'll be doing a nascar splash n go.

It's OK, definitely the cheapest gas prices on the island 🏝. Get there at a decent time, and you'll breeze on through. The long lines and idiots who try and mess up the flow of traffic are a daily occurrence here and make it not worth the hassle, especially since it's the only Costco in Victoria. I did find that my car would run like crap after a fill-up, so I just stick to Chevron or Co-op.

Almost never worth it, recent study in Vancouver showed Costco fuel is the worst quality fuel that you can possible buy. Your car will have to adjust to burn more fuel to make it run right so you’ll end up paying the same as a normal gas station in the long run. Also the wait times to get gas adds on top of that. Very rarely cost effective to get gas here and if you want to take the best care of your car get quality gas like shell or chevron

Obviously one of, if not the cheapest place on the South island to get gas. Only regular and premium grade are available and if you go anytime after 10am, be prepared for waits. The wait time on busier days can be absurd with traffic lining up in different directions through the parking lot. I always try to go early morning to avoid this. The staff are always super nice when you have to deal with them, and very helpful if you have any issues.
