Very nice place. I liked the simplicity of it for Dementia residents. Staff were lovely and a good variety of different backgrounds and cultures, which is needed. In order to satisfy the residents needs and likes, and their diverse lives and backgrounds as well.

The Village gave my Mom the opportunity to live her best life in her last years. The Village is a paradise for loved ones living with dementia. It has the resources, training and incredible facilities in place to properly care for people with dementia. My mom lives in a true home-like environment, with accessible walking trails and tons of outdoor space, a garden full of flowers, vegetables, and even chickens. There is a community center and a whole host of programming. The Village feels like a true neighborhood. The staff is well trained in dementia care, and while she has aged and can no longer walk, she is always treated with compassion, dignity and customized care. The Village has been designed as a place where the staff never has to tell a dementia resident the word "No". The residents of The Village receive custom care tailored exactly to what they need in the moment. In a landscape of care homes that do not have the resources or training to handle people living with dementia, and will often lock them up in hallway style living, or treat aggressive behaviours with a trip to the hospital, the Village truly is a remarkable gem. The Village is an incredible and very necessary resource for families living with dementia. We feel lucky to have our Mom in their care.

I am an independent care-aid and I visit a client at the village. This is a wonderful facility- the staff are friendly, helpful and most importantly have a caring attitude towards the residents. The ability to have freedom of movement goes a long way towards the happiness of the residents at the village- they can go and have a coffee at the bistro and then go for a walk along the many paths that take them around the 5 acres. Residents can visit the goats and chickens on the property and spend time with visiting dogs. There is also a cute, friendly cat in reception- if you are more cat orientated! There are always activities and events going on, which residents can participate in if they wish to. There are so many aspects of the village that make it a wonderful place- I really hope that more facilities take notice of the positive benefits of a village style residence.

Amazing experience this week working with Austin, Megan, and Jill at Langley Village. The staff is passionate and truly care about the well-being of the villagers, placing the person at the centre of care. Bright, clean, and well-design environment.

I chose to give 3 stars because I’m sure you all run a very nice facility for the people in need of it, but I have lived in this neighbourhood for over 20 years and have never experienced such un-aware drivers in my life. My suggestion would be to put stop signs at your exits as it seems a great deal of your staff do not stop. If not that, maybe suggesting to all your staff to stop and look both ways before exiting the parking lot. Not only is there a lot of elderly people in our neighbourhood that you should be aware of but also many many pets and other animals that roam day and nights. Please just keep an eye out, I can’t count on two hands how many times I have encountered this situation.

Tania was gracious to give us the full tour of the property even though it was a freezing day. The community is unique & innovative very open and surrounded by nature, various levels of care available, our impression was a big emphasis on community and caring staff with a good ratio to residents. Everything was spotless.

My aunt was lucky to become one of the first residents here, and I have visited often. This is a truly groundbreaking facility and the staff are as patient and friendly as you'd hope for. I have noted the postings by others who are upset by the cost of living at The Village; asking "who can afford to live here?" and suggesting it is only for the elite.
While I could not afford to live here, that is due to my particular circumstances and life choices. My aunt can afford to live here for many years to come, but I want to share her story and show others that living like this is not reserved just for the wealthy.
Auntie M. and her family were sent to live in a BC internment camp during the war, when she was just a young girl. She left, barely into her teens; left her family and left school to return to the Lower Mainland to toil as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. She made this sacrifice to send money back to her parents and siblings. Later, after the war ended and everyone moved back to the Lower Mainland, Auntie M. found work in the Steveston cannery. She never completed her schooling; having to still help her parents and siblings and with little education, working in the cannery was what she could do. But, she was wise with her money, saved up, and bought a house. This house and her very dedicated savings are what allows her to enjoy life in the wonderful The Village now and for years to come. I am so happy that this amazing woman, who did hard physical work her whole life, sacrificed her youth and her education, is thriving at The Village due to her own self taught money management efforts. So to those who are affronted and snidely suggest that a community like The Village is an elitist utopian ideal, I suggest otherwise. Yes, it is costly but it is worth every penny for the high quality of care, the beautiful atmosphere and the priceless dignity with which residents are permitted to live. I couldn't recommend it enough!
