WARNING: Do not pay your BCEHS bill online! Terrible experience. Your credit card information isn’t safe or secure.

First, I am beyond happy and grateful for the incredible skill and professionalism of the paramedic that delivered my son to hospital. His quick thinking and expertise helped to save my son's life.

My problems started when I received the invoice for his ambulance ride. Since an online option was offered, I figured I’d save myself some time and hassle by submitting the $80 payment. Boy was I wrong. The online form was not well designed. The form fields were labeled differently than the invoice, so it wasn’t clear what information they needed: invoice number, reference number, or ambulance account number?

What’s worse: the payment amount field was just an open text box. I mistakenly put $800 in the form. Normally when you hit submit, you get a verification screen where you can confirm all the detail that you entered. But it seems since I entered my cc number ok, the transaction was approved immediately. No error checking or opportunity for review.

Great, so now I’m out $720. Hopefully a quick call to their customer service line on Monday morning will sort things out. Nope. Guy on the other end didn’t seem to understand how to handle my request, but promised to get back to in a couple of hours. The next day, after no call back, I spoke to a woman who thought it was more important to blame me for making a mistake than to try to refund me the overpaid amount. Apparently it’s going to take 6 weeks for BCEHS to mail me a cheque.

The badly designed web form and terrible resolution path are completely unacceptable.

I hope you never need to pay for an ambulance, but if you do, just call them.

August 2019 4:05 pm had an accident at work. Direct supervisor wondering if we needed an ambulance for a fall that ended up needing six stitches and 15 staples & 6.5 months off work....concussion.

Ambulance service was called to prep for transport to hospital, not up for discussion. Spent next 6.5 months doing occupational therapy, physio, cousellor for anxiety, sound sensitivity, social anxiety, depression, etc.

Transport staff were amazing, patient and so helpful in calming my nerves when I thought I may have broken my neck - so damned scary but got me through until hospital medical staff stepped in.

Two years later i still have some symptoms but no physical or mental deficiency. So appreciate ambulance prompt response and quality of care. Many thanks for your training, skill set & care!

This BC government organization spent $44 289.54 on a private lawyer to fight my well substantiated, written OIPC complaint. There never was an OIPC hearing to physically attend, nor did the lawyer have to attend court. I don't exactly know what he did on their behalf to justify such extreme financial claims; as the BCEHS disclosure is heavily censored. Censored names, times, nature or the work being claimed, even the name of the attorney who signed off on the work. Nothing, it's all just a big secret! Except of course, the shocking final total paid out to a private lawyer. A job that could have been easily handled by BCEHS staff lawyers at no cost. I was never provided a lawyer free of charge by the regime to represent the public interest. I don't in good faith recommend filing a legitimate grievance against this government agency. In my opinion, they will spare no expense to crush you for speaking the truth.
