I had a very unpleasant experience in the store. My wife and I pulled our car into a strip mall in North Vancouver for the first time and parked. We found ourselves in front of African breeze and, only after parking, did we notice the sign that said “parking for customers only“. We looked into the window and saw some Swazi candles, which we knew because we had been to the factory in Eswatini. We love those candles, and my wife suggested I go and look for some replacements.

After being in the store I found only a few samples of the Swazi candles, and I asked the owner if she had additional candles elsewhere. The answer was no, so I thanked her and left the store. That is when the problem began…

As I walked away to do additional shopping, the owner ran outside and yelled at me that I was parked in a “customer only“ parking spot! The degree of anger she displayed was excessive and also inappropriate to the situation. I moved my car and then returned into the store to tell her that I had honestly been in the store with the intent of purchasing a Swazi candle. Her testy retort was “customers are people who buy things”!!!

This owner does not respect the people who are entering her store, and I personally will not be going back.

The worst customer service I’ve ever seen in Vancouver. While I was shopping from her store she asked me with very rude language to move my car from front of her store when I’m leaving.

Hey! was nice to find this store randomly while we were visiting. Also though you need to check on the expiry dates. I picked up a couple items which I didn’t know had expired 6 months ago. It tastes okay but maybe put them on sale or get new stock. They were in the English section btw.

The best South African store out there. Not just delicious biltong, but amazing African decor goodies too! Always a pleasant shopping experience!

The biltong is incredible! Wish there was a location in Squamish.

Wide selection of SA foods and even some Australian and British foods for those ex pats missing the flavours of home like Bundaberg ginger ale.

I’m hungry just thinking of the biltong again

This is a lovely little taste of home.

The issue is, they have a very small selection of goods. However this is expected from an import shop.
