I meant to share my thoughts on this experience for years, but it always slipped my mind. As a Black woman living in Canada, I was initially anxious about giving birth here, especially with the stereotype that Black women have a higher pain threshold. I feared being overlooked and not having my concerns taken seriously. However, my experience at Cedar House was truly positive. They listened to me, showed genuine care, and made me feel safe, which was incredibly important. I wholeheartedly recommend them! As care providers they were extremely knowledgeable, professional, nurturing, & attentive in every aspect of pregnancy, birth and post partum. Cedar House Midwives are the best midwives in the Comox Valley! I felt so safe and well cared for. They have so much experience and always listened to my needs. I was truly grateful to have them by my side.
Their clinic is cozy, calm and like a second home for moms to be- before and after birth. The baby group was a great way to connect with other moms and ask simple questions (that feel like big questions at the time). There’s a sense of connection and community that makes a big difference when starting this crazy journey of parenthood. I’m looking forward to coming back soon when we grow our family again.

The entire team at Cedar House Midwives and the care they provide families in prenatal, birth, and postpartum care is exemplary. They are extremely knowledgeable, attentive, responsive, and truly embody person/family-centered care. They practice evidence-based care while also incorporating a holistic perspective, and they are genuinely accepting of the preferences of expecting mothers and their partners. My spouse and I just had our first child, and we are so happy we decided to work with the team. In addition, the baby group offered during the first 6 months postpartum is an amazing program.

These ladies are talented and caring. They kindly took us on as a patient 2/3s of the way through my pregnancy and were very thorough with their care. I felt a warm connection with them as I progressed and Jenna was incredible during my delivery.
